I canโ€™t believe Iโ€™ve never had an aรงaรญ bowl before this morning! ๐Ÿ˜‹ I made this aรงaรญ peanut butter bowl using 2 pouches of the aรงaรญ roots, along with 4 oz of vanilla almond milk, 1 T of peanut butter, a frozen banana, and blended until smooth. Then I topped it with my sliced fruit, chopped almonds and crunchy granola ๐Ÿ˜‹๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅœ These berries are an antioxidant powerhouse ๐Ÿ’ช and are also a great source of omegas, fatty acids, and dietary fibers, as well as protein, calcium, and vitamins A, E, and B6! Did you know cherries are super beneficial for our health? ๐Ÿ’They can lower the risk of developing diabetes, which is wonderful news because diabetes in North America is pretty much everywhere! Cherries can improve heart heath by reducing cholesterol and can also lower that blood pressure! The Alzheimerโ€™s Association notes that the antioxidants in cherries help to boost memory! ๐Ÿง  ๐Ÿ‘ If they improve memory, maybe they could actually slow down the diseaseโ€™s progress?! ๐Ÿค” Fact is, cherries are one of the healthiest foods we can eat, and I, myself, need to start eating MORE of them! ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ This was a wonderful breakfast this morning! Tofu scramble with a smoky southwestern flavor! ๐Ÿ˜‹ Tofu should not be feared guys! It is made from soy. A soyBEAN. Soy is a healthy legume thatโ€™s packed with high-quality protein, vitamins, and minerals. Fortified soy products are also a great source of calcium, and one serving of fortified tofu, soy milk or soy yogurt may provide 20-50% of your daily calcium requirements! There is actually significant evidence, from many scientific studies, that moderate intake of traditional soy foods (such as edamame, tofu, and tempeh) is associated with a LOWER risk of prostate cancer in men and of breast cancer development and reoccurrence in women. Soy is considered safe throughout the cycle of life- from childhood to old age- as part of a balanced diet. Where does all this fear come from? Mainly from studies on animals, where high-dosage isoflavones were used (not soy-based foods, and not a typical dosage). The results of these studies cannot and should not be interpreted to reflect the effects soy consumption has on humans. It should be noted that when it comes to cancer, soy is considered safe, but the data regarding isoflavone supplements is conclusive, and therefore should not be used in cases of history with breast cancer.
