I should be in Istanbul, Turkey right now...but Iโ€™m not. Last year I flew over 150,000 miles for business and pleasure. To put that into perspective, thatโ€™s about 6 times around the earths equator or roughly 55 flights from Los Angeles to New York. One thing Iโ€™ve learned is that nothing usually goes as planned so why fight it? Take for instance right now....a fire at Londonโ€™s Heathrow Airport prevented me from making my connecting flight to Istanbul. That resulted in an overnight in London. Being fluid and having a positive attitude makes all the difference when traveling. This is what I call making lemonade out of lemons. Iโ€™m grateful I had this โ€œopportunityโ€ to re-explore this amazing city. Friday Night Lights London style on the River Thames...The iconic Tower(s) Bridge (pun intended ;-)... . . . . ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง ย

I think captured this moment on the day of (or very close to) the day @kingjames announced he was coming to Los Angeles. Iโ€™m just loving these @lakers colors. One of my favorite things to do is surf early in the morning. Itโ€™s hard to describe the feeling and emotions one experiences when welcoming a new swell and watching the sunrise from the solitude of the ocean. This surfer is about to experience a truly beautiful and unique moment. To quote @billabong, โ€œOnly a surfer knows the feeling...โ€. . . . . ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Palos Verdes is one of my favorite places to visit nature and clear my mind. Itโ€™s breathtakingly beautiful with multiple coves around every point. A hidden treasure (located in plain sight) just 30 minutes away from the bustling city, you feel like youโ€™re in another world.... . . . . ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ย

Throwback Thursday to a couple years ago. The only downside to being a surfer is that you canโ€™t get it every day...Mother Nature doesnโ€™t always cooperate. Needing to fill the void, I recently took up prone paddling because I canโ€™t surf waves like this every day. Itโ€™s hard to find something else that distracts you from that empty feeling that Surfers feel when thereโ€™s no surf. Looking forward to the next swell. Thanks @photog_rubenpina for this picture of me and my first love.... . . . . . . ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

โ€œMalibu was originally settled by the Chumash, Native Americans whose territory extended loosely from the San Joaquin Valley to San Luis Obispo to Malibu, as well as several islands off the southern coast of California. They named it "Humaliwo" or "the surf sounds loudly". The city's name derives from this, as the "Hu" syllable is not stressed.โ€ Wikipedia... . . . . . . ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I captured this moment a few months ago...prior to south swell season. This lineup will likely look very different than when I snapped this picture. Today, Hurricane Fabio has blessed us with ample, proper waves hitting SoCalโ€™s south facing beaches. Itโ€™s 4:30 AM as I type this and I can hardly contain myself as I try to get out the door to welcome the sun rise and new swell. Today is going to be super fun...Go get yours! Make it a great day! Throwback Thursday to a couple years ago at 2nd Point, Malibu with photographer @photog_rubenpina. So...the cat is out of the bag and we all know that Hurricane Fabio is sending us an impressive south swell which is scheduled to arrive late tonight/Friday morning. Looking forward to catching some of these tomorrow morning... . . . . . . ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

My life has been pretty chaotic lately. Last night was the first time in a while that I could escape everything and go shoot. Just my camera, my thoughts and myself. It was an adventure and Iโ€™m happy I made the time. For those of you whoโ€™ve captured her before, well, you know what it took to get to this vantage point ;-) โ€œThe RMS Queen Mary is a retired British ocean liner that sailed primarily on the North Atlantic Ocean from 1936 to 1967 for the Cunard Line โ€“ known as Cunard-White Star Line when the vessel entered service. Built by John Brown & Company in Clydebank, Scotland, Queen Mary, along with RMS Queen Elizabeth, were built as part of Cunard's planned two-ship weekly express service between Southampton, Cherbourg and New York. The two ships were a British response to the express superliners built by German, Italian and French companies in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Queen Mary was the flagship of the Cunard Line from May 1936 until October 1946 when she was replaced in that role by Queen Elizabeth.โ€ Wikipedia . . . . ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

โ€œOh God, thy sea is so great and my boat is so small.โ€ Breton Fishermanโ€™s Prayer Photo: @surfanimal I was thinking about this quote as I was relay paddling with the @southbayboardriders in the @rock2rockrace on Sunday. Itโ€™s 22.17 miles across the Catalina Channel. It starts at Two Harbors, Catalina and finishes at Cabrillo Beach, San Pedro. I have a (one-way) ticket departing from San Pedro to Catalina today. This picture (San Pedro at sunrise) and quote seem appropriate for this weekend.
