This Hypa 7 variant was so darn incredible. @bbascanada seriously knows how to make good use of these hops. Tried every single version to date and if I recall correctly, Hypa 4 & 7 are tied for my faves. Such a smooth beer juicing with tropical fruit flavours. Hopped with all Australian Galaxy, Vic Secret & Enigma. Little to no hop bitterness, which I'm fine with cause there's no sweetness to report. Tasting notes include those of melon, pineapple, tangerine and papaya. This is a true neipa. ••• ••• ••• ••• •••

I'm really starting to notice the value of amongst Quebec breweries. Their India Pale Lager base beer recipe is insanely incredible. There's nothing else like it that compares in this industry. This Gose IPL was phenomenal. Dry hopped with Wakatu & Wai-Iti hops. This was super fresh and clocked in at 4.2% abv. A hoppy unfiltered American inspired Gose. Tasted of fresh cereal grains and lemon pie. I found this to be the perfect balance between sour, salty, acidic & hoppy. What a fantastic beer. ◻ ◻ ◻ ◻ ◻

4th version/recipe of @biererieshelton's IPA du Jour to be identified by the August 28th coding on the can. Hopped with Eukanot, Idaho 7 & Hull Melon. Offers a ton of tropical fruits on the nose. Palate is dank hops, a little resinous with notes of melon, honey dew & pineapple. Such a soft, hoppy and juicy ipa. One of the better ones in this series. ••• ••• ••• ••• •••

Seriously this "Assemblage " was so damn delicious.. so good that it should be illegal. @dunhambrasserie It's a blend of barrel aged raspberry Saison, Saison Cerise and a young sour cherry Berliner Weisse. The colour is so pretty you don't even want to drink it but once you start you wont want to share any. Might be my favourite from this series! 🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴

The folks @beneluxmtl are absolute wizards when it comes to brewing, consistently dishing out amazingly complex beers. They can nail absolutely any style. I've been additionally aging this "Grande Armada Reserve 2017" for about 5 months now. It's an assembly of an American Brown Ale put to further rest in Bourbon barrels of different ages. Pours a mahogany like brown with a medium sized head which quickly dissipates. Nose is caramel, bourbon, sweet malt, various dark berries. Lovely bourbon presence from the mixed barrels. Bourbon heat is present but not too intense. The smokiness and flavour does give off quite nicely. Mouthfeel is thick and heavy. The palate is wood, more bourbon, more caramel, roasted malts, brown sugar, black cherries. All the flavours mesh beautifully together. Cheers beer fam! ▪▪▪ ▪▪▪ ▪▪▪ ▪▪▪ ▪▪▪

"Heart of Tartness" from @northernmaverickbrewing has to be my favourite beer from them that I've tried to date. A really good sour offering that does not lack any hops. Considering the dry hop additions I found a lot of which were also carried over to taste. Oats were also added to enhance the body of the beer. Medium tartness. Nose is an array of hoppy citrus. Notes include orange, pineapple, cranberries, apricot on the palate. Yeast is present. Refreshing and tasty offering from them. ••• ••• ••• ••• •••

@burdockbrewery "Meube Noir II" is a sour dark wild ale barrel aged with Cabernet Franc grape skins for 1 year and bottle conditioned for an additional 7 months before released. A top beer in my opinion coming from Burdock. Love the complexity with this brew and how nicely it drinks too. Pours a deep dark brown with shades of red and a thin head which dissipates fairly quickly. A generously carbonated beer with a touch of wild yeast funk. Such a flavourful ale with pleasant notes of dark fruit, plums & figs to be precise. A fruity malt that's not too sweet. You don't receive too much of those vinous qualities but rather more of a rich malt & fruity tartness. A very nice beer to wind down with late at night. ▪▪▪ ▪▪▪ ▪▪▪ ▪▪▪ ▪▪▪

Another bottle from the share for the birthday boy @maxthewax91 this past weekend. Brought out some @brasserieauval for the occasion. Have been looking forward to this "Ribes Nigrum (Cassis)" for a while. A barrel aged sour fruited beer, an assembly of mixed fermentation beers refermented on blackcurrants. A delicate, fresh and floral beer with blackcurrant and raspberry notes. Lightly tart with a medium carbonation. Slight funkiness and hay. Lemon, tad acidic, oak wood flavours. Gorgeous beer as always. ••• ••• ••• ••• •••

"Jane Doe " from @dunhambrasserie is an assembly of barrel aged sour beers brewed with guava. This Hors-Série series never seems to disappoint. A beautiful addition of guava where it remains quite subtle on the palate. Also notably there is a wide spread of citrus fruits too. Extremely bright and tart flavours however the carbonation and acidity really stand out. A little dryness accompanied with floral and herbal notes. A very nice sour blend! ••• ••• ••• ••• •••

"Rage And Love" @rainhardbrewing is a sour ale with plum and cardamom. A really interesting brew this was, first time having anything quite like it. Pours a bright yet murky pinkish orange with a large fluffy head that sticks around a little. The plums offer some juicy tart flavours right up front, a real nice fruit juice to sour ratio. The cardamom spices give just enough of a tiny kick on the backend which makes the palate go into overdrive. Easy drinking but a great depth in flavour. Tasting notes include plums, spices, grapefruit, yogurt & pithy citrus. Medium body & smooth mouthfeel. I oddly enjoyed this beer. °°° °°° °°° °°° °°°

@bellwoodsbeer "Jelly King Mango Apricot" Another JK in the books. With all these variants this one doesn't necessarily stand out for me. I do like the hop blend and the body brought on by the addition of mangos and apricots. I did find the apricot notes somewhat dominated the mango notes. Otherwise it was pretty much delivered as advertised. A juicy, hoppy, lactic acid brew makes for a delightful Jelly King always. ••• ••• ••• ••• •••

White Lies (Sauvignon Blanc) 6% abv. This sour ale variant is refermented with Sauvignon Blanc grape juice and dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Simcoe hops. Honestly speaking, I can now say I've sampled several different brews from @bloodbrothersbrewing and this one is right at the top for me along with their Imperial BA stout "Balam". We hear or read it all the time when a beer is super "well balanced". A tad cliché but I truly found this beer to be just that. Bitterness from the grapefruit, astringency from the white grapes, a barnyard funk from the brett yeast, bright sour citrus notes which were not overpowering & a soft refreshing carbonation. Was very pleased to be drinking this gem while grilling some steaks on a nice Sunday afternoon. Cheers 🍻 °°° °°° °°° °°° °°°

@bbascanada is back in real fine form with this Hypa series. One of my favourite series period but I hadn't been blown away with the last few. This 7th installment Hypa IV() brewed with Citra and Simcoe hops is superb. A series of IPA's with no fruit added but there's no shortage of tropical and citrus hop flavours. Such a pleasant mouthfeel that's soft and juicy, no sharp bitterness or carb making it easy to go down. Aromas are overwhelmingly tropical. On the sip are notes of orange, passionfruit, mango, pineapple and light dank hops. All you can really ask for from a good hazy beer. ••• ••• ••• ••• •••

So this is my third Brut style beer now and ironically this lager version is the best take I've sampled to date. From @michaelfiset comes this Brut I.P.L. and despite the lager yeast, the closest beer to the Brut style thus far in my opinion. It was fermented in stainless steel vats & then refermented in French oak barrels with a brett yeast. The funk comes off as fairly light. There's some faint yeast, pepper and oak on the palate. However beyond all that are the style's true colours. Vinous, bone-dry, highly effervescent, tad fruity and crisp. On the nose are Nelson Sauvin dry hop additions with white grapes and melon. Really great execution with a little twist of complexity. °°° °°° °°° °°° °°°

Shared this @lenaufrageur "Gruit Gaspésien" with the birthday boy Friday @maxthewax91. Didn't really take notes. I do enjoy a gruit from time to time but I do prefer my hops instead. This one was very nice however. Specifically recall getting some apricot and various herbs. Un grand merci au @lenaufrageur pour ces belles bières. 🍻🍻 •••• •••• •••• •••• ••••

"Session NEIPA Coconut" As someone who's a big fan of @microbrasserievoxpopuli I was not impressed with this brew. All things being sessionable I can definitely understand what they we're aiming for however flavour lacked in all aspects. An all around light beer with barely any of that coconut to be found. Floral hops, some tropical notes. A fairly slick texture for a session. I guess it's to be expected coming from a 3.9% abv beer. I would not categorize this as a neipa! ° ° ° ° °

@leftfieldbrewery "Laser Show" Vermont style IIPA. (8% ABV / 80 IBU) Definitely not my last time drinking this bad boy. First time having this 650ml bottle to myself though. Honestly as I drink this beer I can't help but think of some of those hoppy/heavy hitters out of Vermont. For instance, take The Alchemist, this beer is relatable in so many ways to some of their flagship beers. It's beautifully hazy, tropical, juicy but more importantly it's just so damn hoppy. Hopped with Citra, Simcoe, Centennial and Mosaic and fermented with a uniquely fruity yeast strain from Vermont. A wonderful soft & juicy mouthfeel. Notably on the sip are notes of pine, lychee, melon, orange and some grapefruit. Moderate bitterness. I straight up love this beer. My favourite from @leftfieldbrewery ▫️▫️▫️ ▫️▫️▫️ ▫️▫️▫️
