During the Obama Foundation Leaders: Africa convening, Kofi Annan joined 200 young African leaders and shared the wisdom that characterized a lifetime of thoughtful leadership. Today, we reflect on the lesson he shared with us that day: that one is never too young to lead, or too old to learn. A leader since his youth, a learner till his passing, we mourn the loss of our friend.
“My artwork is a celebration of the human spirit.” After Antonio Davis became a victim of gun violence, his whole life changed. See how he’s overcome life’s toughest obstacles to create incredible works of art and give back to his community:
"I remember feeling hope. I remember getting emotional and wanting to hug everyone on the street." As the ten year anniversary of President @barackobama’s 2008 election approaches, we're collecting oral histories, photos, and memories from people around the world to create an archive that will show future generations how ordinary people can create extraordinary change. Add your stories to the collection: obama.org/history
Today, we’re announcing a new program for young people who want to make a difference in their communities, but might not know where to start. We’re hosting Community Leadership Training Days in Oakland, Dallas, and Oklahoma City this fall. Tag someone you think should apply: www.obama.org/cltd
Ten years ago you helped make history—now help us write it. * On President Obama’s birthday, we’re kicking off an oral history project for you to your share memories from 2008—what you saw, what you heard, who you called. Whether you caucused, campaigned or voted for the first time, your memories will help tell the story of how ordinary people, working together, can create extraordinary change. * Share your story at the link in our bio.
Connecting with your community happens in different ways across the world. For the members of the Soweto Gospel Choir in South Africa, it’s through song and dance.
