I remember, as a child, thinking 30 was so old I could barely comprehend the possibility of inhabiting three whole decades. Now I stand here at 36–closer to 40 than 30–grateful to have made it this far, liking myself more with each passing year, slowly chipping away at anything that doesn’t lend itself to my authentic being. • I never could have imagined that this is where I’d be at 36, both the physical and intangible aspects of my current timeline—but I’m fully engaged with it, along for the ride, intent on controlling only that which is in my control: how I receive the world around me. • Messages are more clear. Conflicts are easier to navigate. Nothing is that serious, I’ve learned that, too. I’ve gotten better at abusing punctuation, grown deeper into my writing, learned to love more fully and set boundaries that I’m willing to uphold. I’ve stepped into my healership, my power, my artistry—not without fear but with a refusal to allow fear to stop me. 36, so far, the past however many hours, has been pretty chill; I’m here for it. • • •

If you’re creative, create. Share your creations. Make a living from creating, if you can (you can). If you don’t consider yourself creative, try to create anyway. Creativity is not determined by the outcome, but by the process. Too often we eschew creative efforts because we’ve ascribed to a false narrative that we are not creative people, simply because we don’t deem our outcomes and projects pleasing to the public. Fuck all that. Create because it’s good for you. Because it fosters self awareness and expansion. Because it tethers you to the source of all things, earthly and cosmic. • • • 📷: @violetartistry

Nine days ago, I washed my hair. Shampoo. Conditioner. Blow dry. It feels like ages ago now, glimpses of a life once mine. This no-wash period has been tougher than others; it feels dirtier today than it has on previous day nines, and it’s made me question if this life is right for me—if I’m really the kind of person who can go this long without washing her hair. But, despite the challenges, I stay strong. I power through. At times, I want to give in—to shampoo, to the voice within that questions my resolve. I choose to trust that I’m capable, that I’m supported. I might wash it tomorrow. I might not. Only time can tell.

3 ways to stop obsessing over what other people think of you: • 1️⃣ Realize that what other people think about ANYTHING is the result of their own lens, influenced by their own experiences, and a script which only they follow. If there was ever a thing that had nothing to do with you, it’s other peoples opinions of you—even if they’re high. 2️⃣ Focus on what YOU think of you; do some introspection. Do YOU like you? Are you standing in your own power? Do you ever question WHY you care what other people think in the first place? Spend so much time in self reflection in order to develop the self awareness necessary to know who you are and what you stand for. If there are aspects of your being that you want to unpack and recalibrate, do so—all the while, staying rooted in an unshakable commitment to self nurturing. Find your worthiness internally. Stay there. Your opinion of yourself is the only one that matters. 3️⃣ Remember in the end, we are ash and ember, memories dissolving, bones decomposing. Using this ephemeral experience to fixate on the opinions of others, to seek external validation and look elsewhere for our worthiness—that is a travesty we simply cannot abide. • • •

⚡️HOGWARTS TRACK TEAM⚡️ • • • Turns out I’m actually pretty fast for a hobbit 💁🏽‍♀️👟. I’ve found that track workouts kick my ass into shape faster than anything else. Everyone’s body is different, everyone’s preferences varied as well. There’s no one way, no singular path to whatever destination. If you do what makes you feel fast/strong/happy/aligned—everything else will follow suit.

IN BETWEEN • In between is an acceptable place to occupy. We get so used to doing, so accustomed to accomplishing, that we rush through the in between. Transitions tend to feel uneasy—untethered. We use words like “disorienting” and “scattered” to describe the spaces between. But what if transitional energy was actually an opportunity to recover? To realign? To gather information and get curious? • What if there wasn’t any urgency to get to the “next thing?” • Pause. Occupy the in between. Sit with the uneasiness of transition until it becomes easy, effortless, still. • • • 📷: @violetartistry

IT’S LEO SEASON, BITCHES—LET’S GO. 🦁🔥👑💅🏽. I’ve always been a hesitant Leo, afraid to show up fully for fear of so so so many socially conditioned things. It’s only in the past few years that I’ve learned to surrender to the Lioness and show up as my salty, bossy, fiery self. Don’t hold back that fire, babygirl—Leo season isn’t just for Leos to shine—it’s for everyone to set their soul ablaze. Channel your inner lioness and show up in the fullness of your magic. Creative. Confident. Warm. Powerful. Leo represents the QUEEN in us all—go out there and do Queen Shit, bbs. The universe fully supports these endeavors. • • • 📷: @violetartistry

I am a woman who reads tarot, lifts weights, says FUCK, does pull-ups, collects crystals, writes poems, raises kids, runs a business, watches serial killer documentaries, cooks for her man, refuses to wear a bra, does silly ass dances in public, loves Mother Nature, listens to both Tupac and Chopin, drinks red wine on even the hottest days, and immediately calls people out for racist, homophobic, transphobic, and misogynistic behavior. Favorite things about summer: 🙋🏽‍♀️Messy hair 💄Makeup free skin 🥥Coconut Popsicles ☀️Late Sunsets 🦁LEO SEASON 🔥Heat waves • Least favorite things about sunmer: 🏖Sand in every crevice 👦🏽Kids being home from school—BECAUSE LETS BE REAL, being a “good” mom (whatever the fuck that means) doesn’t require you to LOVE every moment or aspect of motherhood. • There have been times in the past 12 years as a mother when I wished someone would give me permission not to love every second—permission to experience a full spectrum of emotions in the motherhood space. Of course, I had to learn to give myself that permission, to unpack the Jenga blocks of guilt and shame that are piled on top of the word “mother” with as much grace and courage as I could muster. I don’t love it all the time, and that’s okay; it’s messy as hell, and I’m here for the messy. The messy truth is we can love our kids eternally and not love every second of raising them—there’s no dichotomy there. • • •

As you elevate to higher levels of spiritual consciousness and self awareness, you’ll likely find that your challenges elevate along with you. They get bigger. Badder. Not only is this okay, babygirl, it’s part of the deal. The more you evolve into your higher self, the more capable you become of navigating these challenges, so of course they will evolve to meet you where you are. I’ve lived my whole life believing I preferred my own company to that of others; connection was never really something I considered mine to possess. Call it introversion. Call it hermitting. Call it solitude. Whatever. What I know is that at age 11, I would lock my bedroom door, light candles, and listen to Morrissey while writing terrible poems. To some extent, this is still very much my truth—I’ve added sage and crystals to the mix, and I’d like to think my poems have gotten better, but it’s yet a familiar scene. • Each of us needs to find a home within ourselves, content and fulfilled in our company. Solitude is only loneliness if we’re looking for someone else to validate our worth and justify our existence. Solitude is where self awareness is born, where higher ways of being are cultivated. • HOWEVER. We are worthy of finding connection with those who improve upon our solitude rather than encroach upon it. I realized recently that while I thoroughly enjoy my own company and appreciate solitude, I am now—by design—surrounded solely by those who improve the silence. My inner circle is comprised of folks who respect my solitude and from whom I don’t feel the need to protect my energy. I’m still protective of my energy, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve created a life wherein I don’t feel it’s constantly being threatened. • This, for me, is what fulfillment looks like: to feel at home with myself and also at home with others. • • •

If we’re going to rise together, I need you to give yourself permission to strip down to your truth, to the essence of your magic. You’re not required to hold so tightly onto that which keeps you small—that which steals your power. You don’t have to claim ownership over your painful, limiting narratives. You’re allowed to let that go, to explore the version of you that is unbound from your shadows. • • • •
