Alot of us get frustrated when we commence the use of a new product and expecting to see great results overnight and we don't! We get so disappointed and unhappy. Skin care and healthy skin is not a sprint but a marathon we will continue to undertake for as long as we care about the appearance of our skin and how we are perceived by others It's important to consider a couple of factors when we embark on this journey of skin care or treating of one's skin from a problem that threatens our self esteem. Skin type, skin condition or problem you desire to treat and selecting the most appropriate skin care products that suits that need precisely Unfortunately, a lot of us gamble with our skin by using any product we thin may provide us with the solution we need. Others just settle for random sampling of anything recommended by anybody while others wait doing nothing and hoping their skin will transform by the snapping of their fingers It's great to be wise. This is expressed when you seek professional help and nip skincare problems in the bud. You get the precise products you need and use with consistency. Even with the right skincare, there is still a need for patience so that the skin can absorb these products enough to ignite a change and the skin begins to improve. it takes about 28 days for your skin cells to turn over, so by that point, you’ve given your face three cycles to purge and adjust, meaning you should notice a difference. So having done all, be consistent, be patient and in due time, your skin will bloom like the beautiful flowers in Spring time. . .

Hello darlings! How has your day being? You guys know that too much of everything is not good right? The same thing with skin and health care, anything excessive will surely have it's consequences. Steroids is good medicine (not cream or cosmetics as alot ignorantly think) normally prescribed by a medical practisioner and used for a very short period of supervised time. Hence, excessive and repeated use of steroids (tablets or topical cream) can have a lot of damaging consequences on the skin. Repeated use of topical steroids in areas where skin touches skin, such as the groin and armpits, can result in stretch marks (striae). Stretch marks from topical steroid use are permanent and irreversible(refer to the previous post). They can be very itchy, inflammed and even spread to any area of skin contact even to the face. Yes! The face! Because topical steroids change the way the immune system work (better believe that) ask the Doctor @greens.herbs , they can inhibit the skin’s ability to fight off bacterial and fungal infections apart from damaging your skin and much more. Do you really want this? I don't think so! . .

The skin is the body's largest organ in the human body and has the remarkable ability to expand and contract as it wills. The skin is strong and elastic, but its supporting tissues can be damaged if they stretch too far or too quickly. This rapid expanding of the skin can lead to stretch marks. Up to 90 percent of women get stretch marks during pregnancy. However, stretch marks can affect people of nearly all ages and skin types. Furthermore, stretch marks often occur during periods of growth and body changes, such as significant weight gain, puberty, and extreme muscle building, But there are many factors that may contribute to the appearance of stretch marks. Although it’s unlikely you’ll ever get rid of them completely ( which is the gospel truth, don't let anyone deceive you) but its visibility and appearance can be greatly improved, thank God! The most effective is the medical treatments like laser stretch mark removal, microdermabrasion or tummy tuck. These are the most feasible and effective methods to get rid of stretch marks. The other, is the natural means of oil therapy of Sheabutter, cocoa butter, etc. These two processes ( natural and medical) will guarantee the same result but at different time frames is one. The latter being the fastest, yet it comes with some precautions and it's dangers. The former is the safest but it requires religious commitment and patience. For the natural method, results can get as high as 70/90% if treatment takes a proactive approach instead of a curative one. For me, Sheabutter and cococabutter use as already being part of my skincare routine. So when pregnancy came calling, I fell amongst the70/90% group ...thank God ☺ ☺ So which brings us to our topic, can stretch marks be removed completely? What's your thoughts 💭 Please do share. Thanks darling. .

Hi darlings, how was your day? Where are my & my Gang? Please step in here! Let's talk about this one thing that always want to prevent our skin from looking great! It is called Sebum! WHAT IS SEBUM? Sebum is an oily substance produced by the sebaceous glands when the glands disintegrate. The gland cells last about a week, from formation to discharge. The sebaceous glands secrete this oily, waxy substance called SEBUM. Sebum is made of triglycerides, wax esters, squalene, and metabolites of fat-producing cells. IS SEBUM GOOD? Yes it is! Sebum waterproofs and lubricates our skin and hair. Our skin needs it in order to function properly. Sebum is actually good for your skin, and plays an important role in keeping it healthy CAN IT BE BAD? Only when it secretes too much which can lead to acne, and an overly oily complexion. WHAT CAUSES OVER SECRETION OF SEBUM? The true cause of oily skin lies in one's GENETIC makeup - an excess of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This DHT is responsible for triggering sebaceous glands to produce more sebum. WHATS NEXT? CONTROL IT! By using non- alcohol or an oil-free cleanser about twice a day to wash your face. Be careful, excessively or aggressive washing and cleansing can dry skin and actually lead to more sebum production. Weekly steaming and regular exfoliation always helps to absorb excess oils and remove dead skin cells that can clog pores. Furthermore, also endeavor to keep oily hair care products from getting to the skin of your face. Simply advise that makes a huge impact. Which are you yet to add to your skincare routine? Tell me...! . .

Is your skin healthy? What does healthy skin look like? Knowing the answers to these questions is the first step in determining how you should be taking care of your skin. Here are 2 major apointers: 1. An even toned Complexion: Consistent color is a sign of youthful, healthy skin. As a matter of fact, the consistency of skin color is considered more attractive than having a certain skin complexion. Unfortunately, even skin tone starts to fade with age, as accumulated sun damage starts to take hold and create age spots and other signs of unevenness. An uneven skin tone is blotchy, discoloured, dark circles under the eyes, etc 2. Smoothness: Healthy skin looks and feels smooth. If you look at healthy skin up close, the surface appears to be regularly irregular. This means that the skin is not completely smooth like glass, but has tiny peaks around hair follicles and pores, and tiny valleys in between the peaks. These peaks and valleys are consistent throughout the skin, giving it a uniform appearance. On the other hand, unhealthy skin, however, does not have a uniform texture. Unhealthy skin can be characterized by bumps, scars, wrinkles, acne and white heads. Who has these game on? Give yourself a round of applause! . .

What are you feeding your skin? Is it loaded with chemicals, preservatives and heavy fragrances or is it loaded with nutrients, vitamins and minerals your skin really needs? If your skin is starving for nutrients, sooner or later, the tell tales signs will be obvious for all to see: dry, burnt, scaly, rough, lines, wrinkles, discoloured, layers of flaky dry dead skin, etc Its highly beneficial to imbibe organic skincare as part or whole of your skin care choices. Our skin has everything to gain and so much more. Natural products like olive oil, sheabutter, flaxseed, moringa, coconut oil, cocoabutter...the list is endless are loaded with healthy fats, antioxidant, Vitamins A, C , E and minerals that will shield your skin from environmental damage. For instance, soap ( ...heheheh) and sheabutter, are loaded heavily with vitamin A. Vitamin A is your skin’s “maintenance man” in that it helps keep skin operating properly. This vitamin repairs and reinforces the mucous membranes and tissues that protect against bacteria and viruses from entering your body. It keeps your skin from becoming dry, flaky and wrinkled, and also helps prevent acne. Organic extracts from fruits and some veggies used for serum, night creams, etc are loaded with high levels of vitamin C. Vitamin C is vitally important to our bodies and our skin in particular. It is instrumental in forming collagen, helps heal wounds, and fights free radicals. Raw shea butter is rich in stearic, oleic acids and rich vitamin E and vitamin A. Cocoabutter and alot of oils are very rich in vitamin E. Vitamin E prevents skin aging & wrinkles. As an antioxidant, vitamin E helps to neutralize free radicals – compounds that cause cell damage and play a role in the onset of skin cancer. The skin needs to stay constantly hydrated to look its finest. Natural products provide intense hydration by default ( if used consistently) while it's nutrients preserve, protect and nourish the skin in the process. Choose wisely! . .

Hello darlings! Who has missed this nerd?...lol so, you have eventually searched and found the amazing skincare products that meets your skincare needs and using diligently ( thank God!) - check √ You have also being mindful to minimise sun exposure - check √ You have being diligent to increase your daily water intake and up your fruits & veggies game - check √ So having done all these to stand ( lol) but your skin glow isn't standing right, don't be frustrated. Here are a few banal, yet effective tips that will strengthen your skin glow: 1. DAMP SKIN IS BEST: Don't be too quick to clean off all the water on your skin after a bathe. Research has showed that the skin locks up and retains moisture longer when skin care products are applied on damped skin. Especially for thicker moisturizers like sheabutter and oils. 2. RULE OUT THE RULE: The common direction of use "2x par day" may not apply for everybody or every circumstance. Especially if: - your skin is very dry, - your skin is under treatment - the weather is cold and dry Its important to apply your skincare products as often as possible to meet your skin needs. 3. NIGHT TIME IS THE RIGHT TIME: The best time to pamper your skin is at night. At night, the skin gets the opportunity to rest, reset, repair and reboot. So bring out all your skincare arsenal and give your skin some good spoil! 4. DON'T APPLY, MASSAGE: If you want to optimise the benefits from your skin care products, its best to massage them gently into your skin other than applying. When you massage, your skin absorbs the products more effectively and the process of massaging the skin helps to boost blood circulation which makes it look robust and fresh. Its also a very good anti aging exercise. If these simple tips can be adopted consistently to our skincare routine, obvious results will be visible in 2 weeks. Do you find this writeup useful? . .
