βœ”οΈ"Name something you crossed off your to-do list today"... Day 23 of the challenge goes to this morning's sunrise at the park. I had just enough time to squeeze in a few miles before heading to work. πŸ‘ŽπŸ™ Bouncing back from a major disappointment this week. Serious car trouble means my east coast road trip is postponed. I was set to leave tomorrow. The disappointment in not getting to see my loved ones is awful. And my heart is heavy. πŸƒπŸ’₯ So today I walked. I walked fast and I walked with purpose. I thought one thousand thoughts all at once and skipped through to find that one perfect song that makes me come alive. I stopped when a moment like this reminded me to be still. To wonder. And to appreciate the beautiful. πŸ“·I had a good laugh at myself for the need to capture an ...but took the damn picture anyway. 🀦🀷 ❀️ And then I felt a whole lot better. Day 16 of the challenge goes to the start of my πŸ™Œ the REAL start. ..... 🀦 I've made a few attempts this year to get back in shape, but each time I failed to keep up with the routine of exercise. Time and time again I would slump back into a familiar, sedentary lifestyle. ..... 🀷 So how do I know this time is different? Because I made changes from the heart. I looked back at what was working, what wasn't, and then learned how to create new, healthy habits. ..... πŸ’ͺ Willpower can only take you so far. True motivation comes when you get mindful. Dig deep and listen to what you really want. Maybe you want to share your journey with the world? Awesome. Maybe you love seeing your health improve. Terrific. Maybe you just want to treat yourself to an after-workout cupcake. You do you boo! ..... 😍The key is to crave the reward you get from the new habit you're working on. Eliminate the things that are holding you back (for me it was alcohol and eating meat) and find some way to make it fun for you... Day 15 of the challenge goes to reaching 60 days !!! πŸ™Œ ..... πŸ€” When I imagined the kind of life I wanted to live and the dreams I wanted to make happen-- alcohol was never part of the coming attractions. ..... 🍻🍸 And yet, there was always a reason to drink. Stressful day? Drink. Bored? Drink. Having fun? Drink. I mean why not? I'm responsible. I pay my bills on time. I've never hit "rock bottom"--whatever that really means. ..... πŸ€” But still-- the coming attractions, my wildest fantasies, and the idea of living my best life, never had a drink to go with them. ..... πŸ€·πŸ™… Why? Because alcohol isn't a true source of happiness for me. It was a habit. A quick hit of relief from anxiety. Or the dulling of pain I wasn't ready to face. Or even, a perceived enhancement to already pleasurable experiences. ..... ❀️ My coming attractions, my best imaginings for my future--- don't include alcohol. Instead, they include courage. Passion. Exploration. Healing. They include vulnerability. Deep belly laughs. Intentional moments. Genuine love. ..... ❀️ With all of that goodness in my life, there's just no need for a silly drink. ..... β˜€οΈSo cheers to the first 60 days. I can't wait to see where my imagination takes me. β˜€οΈ

I remember early summer mornings running down to the garden to munch on our homegrown πŸ₯•πŸ₯’πŸ…πŸŒ½ then I'd sit on the back porch, feet covered in dewey grass, and think about all the places I could explore that day. ..... β˜€οΈ My days were spent outside, and life was simple.β˜€οΈ I'm forever grateful for those early childhood memories. And I hope one day I can raise my own family in the same kind of simple way. ..... 🌱 This may only be a rental house. And this may only be a few potted plants. But it's an opportunity to learn. And when we see someone who has what we want to have or is doing what we want to be doing (looking at you & πŸ™„), it's only natural to question ourselves. To feel inadequate. πŸ™ ..... πŸ™… Let's all take a deep breath and remember that no one has all the answers. No one has life perfectly figured out-- no matter what their feed might convince you. All the things you should have been working on. The things left unchecked on your task list. ..... πŸ”Ή And how does that make you feel? My guess? Not great. More like: ❌ Shameful? ❌ Frustrated? ❌ Guilty? ❌Stressed? ❌ Anxious? ❌ Filled with dread? ..... πŸ”Ή Yeah. I feel you. I am you. So here's an easy motivational tool that could help. ..... πŸ”Ή On the days you're stuck in the task list self-pity place, try writing down everything you actually did do that day. 🍻Last month I decided to go for one year. I kept track of my progress on this calendar whiteboard. Seeing the checks pile up was super motivating. I couldn't wait to add a new success every morning. Today is Day 56. ..... 🌱 This month I decided to get back in touch with my dietary values. In a previous post I shared how I had been a for years, but somewhere along the way I lost touch with myself, and began eating foods again that made me feel miserable. I knew in my mind, body, and spirit that I wasn't being true to myself. ..... 🌱 Something had to change. ..... βœ”οΈ So I went back to what I know. I set out the dates on my calendar and simply checked the days I abstained from meat. And wouldn't you know- it worked again. 4 weeks strong and not looking back. Feeling better than I have in a very long time. ..... πŸ”Ή The key to making and breaking habits is to use your personal nature to your advantage. Maybe the βœ”οΈ method isn't for you. No worries! There are countless tools and resources available to help you tap into yourself and what motivates you, making the process so much easier. ..... πŸ€—Personal growth doesn't have to be miserable.
