and done. ✔️ Got a cute new outfit for only $20, $20 of school supplies from Staples for $10 (they have these really cool notebooks with a planner, pockets, ruler and note tabs! This is perfect to keep track of all my classes! Plus, who could say no to a folder? ☺️), and took advantage of the Whole Food/Prime deal (spend $10 at Whole Foods, get $10 for Prime day. And I just got Student Prime for free with my student email so even better! ). Yay for maximizing our small student budget! Classes this week also went great! My Quarter 7 classes are: -Renal Pulmonary Physiopathology -Extremity Biomechanics and Examination of the Upper Extremity (+Lab) -Spinal Orthopedic Examination (+Lab) -Reproductive Physiopathology -Introduction to Diagnostic Principles -Public Health I -Pathology Lab I’m also waitlisted for Advanced Biophysics.🤞🏽I’ve really noticed the curriculum switch from an intricately detailed human anatomy/physiology science heavy curriculum to a “focus on applying the science to the function and assessment of the human body.” (lifewest.edu) I love being able to apply the science that was so drilled into our heads to a more clinical approach, and, it’s great review! (Boards is just around the corner!! 😱)

The sun has set on my last day of summer. ☀️ Feels like it’s only been three weeks, not three months. ;) But I’ve accomplished a lot. Crossed five movies off my list, went to my first drive in, celebrated the Fourth of July with amazing family, participated in my first protest, spent nine hours renewing my drivers license, ate the worlds worst açaí bowl (Costco 🤢) followed by the worlds best açaí (thank you @bowlofheaven!), weeded the yard, went to the goat 🐐 park, and to finish off right and kick start a new quarter, got a new haircut and skirt. ☺️ Bring it on quarter 7! I’m rested and ready to work!

It’s an birthday party! 🎂 🎉 This cake is 80% Paleo, 20% not, and 100% delicious! 🤤 Layer 1: Paleo brownie recipe from @empoweredsustenance - and uses cacao powder for added minerals, vitamins, magnesium and antioxidants! Layer 2: My Cheesecake Filling Recipe - high in healthy fats Layer 3: My Perfect Paleo Cookie Dough Recipe - This layer is high in protein and contains gut healthy @vitalproteins collagen! Layer 4: More cheesecake filling. Layer 5: @simplemills vanilla cake mix baked in 8 inch cake pan. Topped off with @missjonesbakes coconut oil confetti frosting. I thought the frosting was too sweet so I took 1 spoonful aside and mixed with 1 spoonful unsweetened whipped cream and spread this with a super thin layer on top. I then piped the regular frosting from the canister along the edge and decorated with their cute, naturally colored sprinkles. *For a more detailed recipe, visit my Facebook page @indulgentpaleo. One of my main goals is to show that healthy alternatives don’t have to taste like “health food” (ie - cardboard, bland, odd textured). They can be amazing!! And while splurging, you can still benefit from nutritious ingredients. 😋

I have been both fortunate and unfortunate to have had my eyes opened from a young age because of my background and family history. Addison can say the same thing. My ancestors, not only had their children taken from them and sent to “schools” to “tame their wild ways” where their hair was cut and they were beaten for speaking their language and had their culture stripped from them, they also had their lands taken and so many lives. Addison’s ancestor were slaves. Another tragic tale in our history where families and culture were not preserved. When is the USA going to learn? Trump’s executive order is not the end. It’s full of loop holes and doesn’t do anything about the children who have already been separated from their parents, kids as young as eight months! If the USA is finally going to move on and stop this nonsense, it’s up to us. 1st: Learn who your representatives are here: https://www.house.gov/htbin/findrep Call them, ask what they’re doing about the “Zero Tolerance” Act, remind them they’re up for re-election and you’ll be watching. 2nd: Sign up for a “Families Belong Together” Rally here: https://act.moveon.org/event/families-belong-together_attend1/search/ Let’s make our voices heard!! 3rd: Consider donating to RAICES - “The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) serves immigrants and refugees in our community by providing immigration-related legal services, advocacy and opportunities for educational and social support. We believe that by actively promoting the well-being and informed participation of immigrants and refugees in the community, everyone benefits.” Here are two links: https://www.facebook.com/donate/490507544717085/10212909983404445/ https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/bondfund DEMAND CHANGE, CHANGE LIVES, CHANGE HISTORY.

of the challenge! So grateful to have participated. This challenge helped me be more aware and held me accountable. Still not perfect and have a ways to go before accomplishing my goals but I am one step closer. Sadly, my post disappeared (I think I accidentally hit the delete button while trying to get it to load?) so I can’t check up 100% with my specific goals but I do know I ate healthier and I at least walked 10 minutes a day, but I did fall short on consistency with food in that there were several occasions I ate only once a day or ate dinner at 11 pm. That’s for ya but I’ll keep working on it.

Fourth day of summer and of the challenge and I couldn’t get out for because I got food poisoning. :( As a student spending thousands on school every year, money is tight so my parents gave us a bunch of food storage to help relieve our grocery budget. Well, apparently one of things was bad because we’re both keeled over with stomach pain. Fortunately I made a big batch of bone broth yesterday so we’ve been sipping that and some ginger/peppermint tea, took our probiotics and digestzen essential oil blend. Feeling much better but exercise will have to wait til tomorrow. What are your favorite home remedies for stomach aches?

A Real Father By Derek Westra: “I often reflect on Joseph’s role as an adoptive father...He was the man Heavenly Father entrusted to care for, love, protect, and teach Jesus. As the Savior grew, Joseph taught Him and shared with Him all he knew. Joseph was an example. He was a loyal and loving husband to Jesus’s earthly mother. Amidst the judgment of his peers, he was a faithful fiancé, and he trusted and obeyed God.” Two men come to mind when I read this: my Dad and my husband. To my Dad who is strong, the hardest worker I’ve ever met, and has taught me to never give up. Thank you. I love you so much and your example is just what I’ve needed to have the strength and courage to do all I need to fulfill my dreams. To my husband who is courageous, a protector, and gentle. I can’t wait to see you become a father someday. I know you’ll be great because I already see you doing so now. The kids you coach absolutely adore you (even though you hold the title of “strictest/toughest coach”). I love seeing the way you encourage them and are happier than they are when they succeed. I love how you care for every living creature and gush over every cute little thing that walks the earth. I love how you helped a struggling mother at the grocery store by picking up the things she dropped and made her sad child giggle. I knew you were a keeper the moment you met my younger siblings because you immediately became one of my brother’s biggest soccer fans and would run off to play light sabers with the youngest. Thank you for being such a great man of God and caring for all those around you, including me. To every man who righteously cares for and serves those around him. Thank you. The world needs more men like you. Happy Father’s Day! . .

That’s my “I’m too tired to smile for reals” face. 🤣 Just got back from a long and intense bike ride (thanks to the wind offering 15x resistance) and a 1/2 mile run. Was hoping for a longer run 🏃🏽‍♀️, but when I got home from my bike ride and started running, I couldn’t lift my legs! It was then I realized I usually run first then bike. Guess it makes a difference. 🤔🙂 But all in all, a great 2nd day of summer. Got caught up on all the dishes, laundry, organized all my notes and the husband fixed my bike. 🚲 :) Now to write my lesson plan for church tomorrow. . .

Just two more to go!!! I’ve barely seen the sun ☀️ today and only my glutes have got any exercise (all weight bearing in the seated position 😉) but I’m almost done! I just have to give it my all during this last sprint to the finish line 🏁. Then can begin!! 🎉 First thing on my summer bucket list - I nice long walk/jog, then an actual meal and maybe a nap. ☺️ 🙁

When you have to decide between studying, eating or sleep. So far I’ve been non-stop studying all day, only taking a small 10 minute break to walk to my exams. And now, even though I’ve only had a little yogurt to eat all day, I am choosing sleep. 😴 Just a little nap (hopefully), then maybe a little food and back to the books. 📚 But the hard work is paying off. First grade came in at 101%. Yay.

Repeating this to myself over and over this . I’m already exhausted and brain dead and it’s SO tempting to throw in the towel on cooking and order a pizza. But no! Because of my late nights and early morning studying and the occasional skipped meal 🤫 it’s more important than ever to care for me and my family in every other way possible. So after I finished my toughest final, I settled my anxious little heart with a calming walk and now I’m cooking Mediterranean burgers with falafel buns, spinach and carrot sticks. Yum! 😋 My brain is going to thank me for this. 🤯 ✔️

You know it’s when you start loosing your mind. Dinner looks fantastic, right? Well, yes and no. I accidentally added vanilla almond milk to my sweet potato mash instead of plain. 🤦🏽‍♀️ :P So I whipped up some orange 🍊 pork with ginger, hot sauce and coconut 🥥 aminos, tossed in the sweet potato mash with a little extra butter, salt and pepper and it actually came out great! But before that, whew! Those were some crazy potatoes. 🍠 🤪 Glad I didn’t give up and am still able to serve up meals amidst studying for my seven finals this week.

I can see again! 👓 Just in time for finals. 😝 As soon as I put my new glasses on, it was mind blowing how crazy clear everything became! My notes look even more stunning than I thought. 📝 😉 I know I preach self-care, but seriously, it’s important. Do check ups with yourself to make sure all is healthy: gut, oral, eyes, mental, physical and emotional. I know how easy it is in our busy lives to forget. Drowning in work, school and bills, you learn to scrape by and survive. I knew my glasses were bad but kept pushing it off for eight years thinking there were more important things to take care of. And honestly, I adapted. I didn’t know how bad my glasses were until my eye appointment when I was surprised to find out that, despite barely being able to see the eye chart, my prescription had improved! Don’t let your body and spirit become as damaged as my glasses before taking care of them. You are amazing and deserve to be treated as such. ❤️ Now for a quick walk break so I can enjoy nature more clearly than I’ve seen in a long time before returning to my studies. ☺️🌱📚

Happy best friend day! I am so fortunate to have my bestest friend as my eternal companion. He completes me in every way and I love him to pieces. We celebrated with a best friend date. We went on a walk around the park and mall , went out for and completed all our sentences with “best friend.” “What do you want to do, best friend?” “I don’t know, best friend. Maybe go for a walk?” “Ooh! Sounds fun, best friend! Can we hold hands?” 😍 Yeah, I know, we even gross ourselves out with our cuteness. But hey, that’s just us and I love it. ❤️
