A goal of mine: get people to ask better questions. ⠀ Nicole came to me with ALL the questions. And as we problem-solved the mobility issues going on with her body, she also learned how to problem solve for the people who hire her. ⠀ This is what it is about. It does not need a label. Nicole is someone who cares about learning and bettering her craft. ⠀ That is the kind of student we should all strive to be. ⠀ #HunterFitness #functionalrangeconditioning #kinstretch ⠀ #Repost @nicolesciacca ・・・ ...|||... Have you ever loved something so much, you’ve had to take a good hard look at its flaws, and then learned how to love it differently? I have been and I am currently doing this with yoga. Primarily the shapes. The way we epitomize, glorify, sensualize, covet and then eventually and hopefully let go of the NEED to make the “shapes”. I feel so fortunate to have befriended and studied with @hunterfitness now for almost a year. The irony is that he’s taught me more about yoga in teaching me about the science of mobility than I could have imagined. Today a little magic took place when I came into class w (unspoken about) nerve pain in my left hamstring and 75 min later the pain was completely gone. Look, I love yoga. And just like every relationship, it needs to be evaluated frequently. There is not a cure for everything. There is no magic pill. There is inquisition, hard work, and more inquisition. This is my open thank you letter to Hunter for not only opening my eyes but carefully and gently guiding me off the ledge and onto my ass where I could sit and take a hard look at what is before me. Find people who know more than you and start asking questions. You’ll never regret that. Or maybe you will, but give it time...
Man. These lectures were SO good. I’m grateful for the FRS team. #Repost @drandreospina ・・・ Understanding how the body learns is a prerequisite to understanding how best to teach it — Without clean, accurate afferent information, our CNS’s ability to learn is diminished. 🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻 Healthier joints↔️better afference ↔️better movement↔️better motor learning 🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻 (🎥from the Inaugural FRC Summit - June 2018) 🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻 #FunctionalRangeSystems #FunctionalRangeAssessment #FunctionalRangeRelease #FunctionalRangeConditioning #Kinstretch #ControlYourself #DrAndreoSpina
Christina is a damn hard worker, someone who is hungry for knowledge, and a killer coach. ⠀ While I have your attention- I would like the internet here (that’s you, reading this...) to wish Christina good luck. In a little over a week, she’ll be competing in Jiu Jitsu at the IBJJF Las Vegas Open. ⠀ It’s been a pleasure to share what I know about the human body with you. Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey, Christina. ⠀ #HunterFitness ⠀ #Repost @coach_christinamarie ・・・ Mobility Training _ How many of us have 💩 range of motion in our joints, pain when moving joints through certain ranges of motion, etc? I know I do/did 🙋🏽♀️ _ I was lucky enough to meet @hunterfitness at another seminar I was participating in and connected with him afterward about attending one of his Kinstretch classes in Long Beach. If you’re in the area, you NEED to go check one out. _ Anyway, after the kinstretch class I had mentioned a hip pain I’ve been feeling for the last....6 months? That I hadn’t found an answer to solving yet. Long story short, Hunter said “well maybe you need a different set of eyes to look at you”. I took him up on it, he did a complete assessment of all my joints and their current active and passive ranges of motion, and I have since been doing homework assigned by him to work to improve the areas that needed it most. _ Something I’ve loved about working with him is he has always reminded me “Human first. Athlete second.” As a human, it’s important we move well and have healthy joints and joint capsules so as to mitigate injury risk later down the line. As a jiu jitsu practitioner, it’s ESPECIALLY important that I have normal human ranges of motion, control of those ranges, strength in those end ranges, AND MORE. We get put into the strangest positions both voluntarily and involuntarily. _ All of this to say, I’ve found a passion for this and am grateful to have found such an amazing coach as @hunterfitness Today we worked on hips, and I’m happy to report my hips have never felt better. _ Take note: This work isn’t easy, but it IS worth it. _ _ #Mobility #FRC #FunctionalRangeConditioning #StrongWomen #Bjj #JiuJitsu #ConsistencyIsKey
I DON’T DO PODCASTS. ⠀ 😡 ⠀ SHANTE TRICKED ME AND INVITED ME TO LUNCH AND THEN PULLED OUT A MICROPHONE. ⠀ 😂😂😂 ⠀ Although this is true, I’m glad it happened. Shante and I have discussed training and therapy online for years. ⠀ And we’ve never met. ⠀ So- We finally got together. We had lunch. We talked about things. And recorded it all. ⠀ Appreciate you, Shante. And I appreciate your excellent questions. ⠀ Hope you all enjoy it! ⠀ #HunterFitness ⠀ https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/maestro-on-the-mic/id1372470637?mt=2&i=1000417712037 ⠀ #Repost @themovementmaestro ・・・ The man, the mobility, the mustache. Yes, that's right, I convinced the 🦄 of podcasts, @HunterFitness (aka Hunter Cook), to come on 🎙Maestro on the Mic🎙 for episode 38 and share his brain, and share did he ever. This is NOT an episode solely about FRC or stupid human tricks. This is an episode where you really get to know Hunter, really get to hear Hunter (I wasn't sure he could actually speak), and really get to feel the passion that he has for helping people not only move better, but live better. Special bonus content at the end of the episode where Hunter spills the beans about chopping the man bun but leaving a Mario 'stache. It's all there waiting for you. Give it a listen. There’s just an incredible amount of beauty to share from this weekend backpacking in the Sierra. ⠀ But more beautiful and more important than all- I think I finally figured it out. ⠀ I can be a model for my very own line of metrosexual fake lumberjack line of clothing. ⠀ The future is so clear now. ⠀ #HunterandDianaTravelTheWorld
Next round of bringing @benbrunotraining through some mobility training. ⠀ Make sure your sound is on- because I’m still trying to figure out if this was one of our successful sets or if it would make a better outtake reel. 😂 ⠀ Appreciate your effort Ben. You’re right. We should just lift instead. ⠀ #HunterFitness #BenBrunoTraining #thisshitsuckshesaid #notwhatheexpected #🤷🏼♂️ #functionalrangeconditioning #mobility #pailsandrailsandpailsandrails
