This year marks Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday and to celebrate this, we decided to extend our Mandela day initiative to something that, we believe, will really benefit a community. Our township & rural development department identified the Nyuswa Primary School as having a substantial need as their hall is in dire need of reconstruction due to damages caused by severe rains and wind. The hall is used for programs such as school assembly, prize giving functions, parents meetings, indoor arts form including dance and movement etc, displays for creative art and other schools related programs. It will also be used to serve the community for community meetings for safety and security etc. with the help of our KZN community and loyal fans, we plan to rebuild this structure, for the benefit of the whole community.
The eleventh edition of the KZNCU, DSR and Sunfoil Township and Rural Cricket Development Schools’ Tournament was officially opened at a special ceremony held at Hilton College last night. Representatives of Willowton Group (Sunfoil), the KZN Department or Sports and Recreation and Sports Development Trust and Heinrich Strydom, the KZNCU CEO addressed a contingent of close to 500 which included township, rural and hub cricketers from around the country; coaches and selectors. The overriding message given to the cricketers - who will play both fifty over, and T20 fixtures over the next three days - was to emerge from the tournament as better human beings. There were roars of excitement when it was revealed that the top batsmen and top bowlers in each age division would receive a R1000 each in prize money. Photocredit: @kzn_guy 📸
