Our founder @djvalues is in Kiev, Ukraine for the Champions League Final (Europe’s equivalent to the Super Bowl). And of course he found the city’s famous cat statue!!! Read the cool story below. . Cat's story and creation of the monument is dramatic. In the mid-1990s the owner of the restaurant "Pantagruel" had the idea to get a cat at restaurant, which was to become a feature of the establishment, its amulet. Thus a large gray Persian cat Panteleimon appeared in the restaurant, which was very popular among the visitors and residents of the surrounding area. The poor cat died a the fire, which occurred in the restaurant. Why didn't he leave the building — its unclear. Maybe he was the protector of the place where he lived. He was so popular that after his death regular visitors started to donate money so they could eventually build a monument to the cat. .

Last week we had the honor of hosting @thebrodiefund Warrior Pose yoga event at the cafe. The Brodie fund is an organization we support whole heartily. It was our pleasure to be able to do our small part in raising funds for such a great group with an amazing mission. As most of you probably know, one of our past residents, Stevie Licks was recently diagnosed with cancer. Organizations like @thebrodiefund are doing great things to help out families in similar situations. Please give them a follow and support their work. . .

STEVIE UPDATE!!! We sent Stevie and her family some flowers today and if you swipe across there is an update on her situation. Although the prognosis isn’t great, Stevie is surrounded by love and the family are so appreciative of all your warm words and positive thoughts. Thank you to everyone that has donated towards her medical expenses, we’ll be matching all donations that we received yesterday and today. If you would like to contribute, please do so via PayPal in the donate section on our website (link in bio) and if you have a pet with cancer, be sure to reach out to the @thebrodiefund if you need a helping hand. 🙏 💗

Helllo!!!! Guess what??? We’re expanding our menu just in time for the warmer weather.... We’d like to welcome @papaganachetheveganbakery to our cafe!! 100% vegan, and lots of GF options too. They are supplying us with delicious sweet things like Linzer tarts, crumb cake, black & white cookies, biscotti & many more.... PLUS vodka penne for those without a sweet tooth. @crdnal are also working on some new summer snacks for their exclusive lettuce & lemon range here at Catsbury, we can’t wait to see what they come up with. Everything you purchase to eat and drink in the cafe can be taken into the lounge, just don’t share it with our four legged felines. What better way to support us than enjoying VEGAN snacks?!?! 🍴

It is with a heavy heart that we share this news with you. Last month we adopted out Stevie Licks & have just been informed that she is in Animal hospital fighting for her life. The vet believes it is cancer that has spread throughout most of her little body. There were no symptoms until just a day or two ago, so this is a sudden and shocking diagnosis for her new family that have spent the last month loving her. please help us send positive vibes to the universe and to her family during this time. Catsbury Park will be making a donation to the family to help offset some of the costs associated with Stevie’s medical bills. If you would like to contribute, you can do so via paypal on our website (link in bio). Please note that the donation is for Stevie. Its in these times that we are so thankful for our extended cat community, and love how we all come together to celebrate the good times and support each other through these harder times. Cancer is a tough battle, and has touched many of our lives, both human & feline. We’re so thankful organizations like the @thebrodiefund exist, and its why we picked them as one of the beneficiaries from the cat convention as they help pets (and their families) fight cancer.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT!! This week we’d like to shine the light on Rose. Rose volunteers with us every Friday, and is a valuable member of our super amazing volunteer team. Thank you Rose!! Here’s what she had to say about joining our team. “I found out about Catsbury from my son who saw it on the internet somewhere, and I might have seen something on Facebook as well. I had just retired from a 20 year career as an art teacher at the middle school level and I wanted to find something to do that would be fun and interesting and something where I could help. I love all animals, especially kitties, so I thought Catsbury would be a perfect place to work/volunteer.. I stopped by to see the place and struck up a conversation with DJ, and here I am. I have two kitties of my own, both were strays that we adopted. We have Chubsy Bubsy who is 7 years old and 20+ pounds and totally black. He is very smart but a bit of a loner. My other kitty is Tiger Louie, a black and gray striped Tabby who is very sweet and loves our family dog who is a pit bull/black lab mix. My favorite part of working at Catsbury is cleaning litter boxes. Haha, just kidding. My favorite part is interacting with the kitties, especially when they want to cuddle on my lap. I also enjoy talking to all the cat lovers who visit the cafe, they are so cute and love to show me pictures of their own kitties. It’s great to see how much the kitties love the cafe and adapt to life here, and it’s great when they find their furever homes too!”

ADOPTION STORY!! Greg the tripod went to his forever home this week, we’re so happy for him. We got a message a few weeks back from the humane society letting us know they had a special cat that they thought would be perfect for us to find a home for. Greg had been rescued by animal control with a severely injured leg. Sadly his leg couldn’t be saved, but after surgery and a few weeks of recovery he was up, moving around and returning to doing all the things that cats love to do. But he was super shy and would probably be overlooked at the shelter so they thought our cafe would be the perfect place for him to get the love and attention he needed and find a home that was right for him & that’s exactly what happened. Greg found a few hiding spots at the cafe and would hop from place to place, so if you wanted to meet him you had to seek him out. He absolutely loved it when people would, he was especially partial to belly rubs and treats... Thank you Nicole for visiting us, seeking Greg out and adopting him. We know he will take up a special place in your heart and we can’t wait to see him grow into a confident cat. We wish you all the very best. We didn’t want to stress Greg out when he left so we didn’t get a goodbye picture, but Nicole was kind enough to send us this purrfect picture of him all settled into his new home 💖

PLEASE READ!!! Yesterday was the 2nd birthdays of the first ever litter of kittens adopted out by Catsbury Park. It’s wild to think how far we have come since we took those 6 two month old kittens into our home without a clue of what we were doing, only that we wanted to help save Cats lives. 160+ adoptions, a tremendously successful cat cafe, a huge convention and many many friends made along the way and here we are. So this post is a celebration of what we have accomplished, where we started from and where we hope to go with Catsbury Park in the future. First photo is day 1 of Catsbury Park. Swipe left to see photos or Butter & Skeletor, Charlie, Sally and Klay today. Thanks for everyone’s continued support. Happy Sunday!! . .

ADOPTION STORY!! Some of you might remember that a few weeks back we said good bye to baby willow, however last week she was returned to us as it became apparent that her new home wasn’t the right fit for her. We care about our residents even after they leave us, and when we find out that through no fault of their own that they’re not settling in we will always take them back. In our 8 months of being open and over 165 adoptions, we’ve only had a couple returns, which is an amazing result and testament to how hard we work on finding the right fit for humans and cats alike. Little baby willow didn’t take long to meet her second chance at happiness with us though, we really believe fate was working in her favor. Last Saturday, an outdoor music show here in Asbury was cancelled due to the weather and some of the attendees ended up finding us open and hung out with the cats so that their night wasn’t wasted. One of these people being @arielle_mariee , and to her surprise (she had no plans that evening to adopt a cat)she fell in love with baby willow and spent close to two hours following her around the lounge. On Monday we happily confirmed her application and again this week, willow left the building... This time we’re 100% certain willow has found her FOREVER home, and we couldn’t be happier for her. Thank you Arielle for the lifetime commitment you have made to her, we hope she brings you and your family many happy memories. .

STAFF SPOTLIGHT!!!!! Each week we’ll be featuring one of our amazing volunteers or employees. Without them, none of what we have achieved and what we plan to achieve would be possible & we thought you all might like to thank them too. This week the spotlight is on @nursejesse83 and here’s what she has to share about volunteering at Catsbury Park. “A fellow cat lover heard about the cafe coming to town and knew I would fall in love with the idea so she texted me about it and said they were looking for volunteers! I wanted to be part of the best thing to come to town! And who doesn’t love to play with cats all day? Showing them love when they aren’t used to it or forgot what it’s like to be held and played with is rewarding. Seeing that super shy and nervous kitty walk around for the first time and come over for cuddles is one of the best feelings. Every animal deserves love and affection. My favorite part about volunteering at CP is knowing that each cat gets an opportunity to show their personality and people can pick the cat that fits their family best. Even if they don’t get adopted right away, they have the chance to live outside a cage and feel love from a human. I’ve been a volunteer since day one and it’s one of my happiest jobs I’ve ever had!  Jamie and DJ are such incredible human beings for what they do for these babies and being a part of their team is incredible! “ Jess also has 2 cats at home so we asked her to share a little about them too.. “My two boys are my world. Blackout is 15 and he’s such a sweet and gentle mini panther. Rey is almost 2 and he’s energetic and cuddly and crazy. He’s a tuxedo kitty with a mustache and a Monroe!  They love to cuddle each other and wrestle and have become the best of friends! “ Thank you Jess, we appreciate you & thank you for all the love and time you dedicate to us. DOUBLE ADOPTION STORY!!! Our super sweet and inseparable bonded BFFs Pop-Tart & Oreo found their forever homes a week ago. Pop-Tart & Oreo came to us a few weeks ago under the strict instruction that they not be separated. It became very quickly apparent that these two had a very special bond that we have very rarely, if ever seen in two bonded cats. For the 2 weeks they spent with us they literally were never more than a foot from one another. Sleeping in the same cat tree, eating from the same bowl and shadowing one another in the cutest way possible. They both seemed to be a little shy, but together they found the confidence to thrive. It didn’t take long before their future forever family came in and fell in love with them. It turns out that the adopting family was related to a previous adopting family. You may remember @tillie_and_ash who were adopted during our opening weekend!!! We are happy to report that Pop-Tart & Oreo are doing well and adjusting nicely after a few days of hiding. (Nothing some cat treats can’t help!!). Best of luck P&O, thanks for spending a few weeks with us. . .
