MY THOUGHTS OF PALEO, LOW CARB & EATING DISORDERS 😬 I came out of 6 or so years from an eating disorder and flung myself into Paleo / low carb . I experienced a new level of CONTROL – which I mistakenly took for Power. This led me onto get ‘amazing results’ at the beginning . >>> Who has tried low carb, got amazing results and then it turns to shit? . But 2 years later you still chase low carb in the vain hope you will get ‘back there’ Hum. Interesting. (I was there too) 🌻 I battled on, even though my results were not there. I had terrible cravings and felt broken – swinging from ‘good to bad’ like there was no tomorrow. LITERALLY. . When I moved away, I unconsciously shut that chapter of my disordered eating life. . I found something I lost a long time ago :: Trust in myself Common sense Power to change Oh and – feeling satisfied by meals again lol 😍 I don’t like to talk in absolutes. There will likely be a group of people/body type out there who Paleo / low carb suits. I am not a doctor. I am not a scientist. But I do like to keep up with the latest research. . I think some people function better on higher protein/fat and lower carb (but the sources of protein/fat can vary and sources are important ;-)) . AND this can also change through your life. But that's another post. 🌱 These days, it’s like I’m returning to my roots (I was a veggie from aged 7-15.) I mainly eat plant based foods. This group will NOT be a ‘become a Veggie/Vegan’ project . No, that’s not what I’m about. It’s not my ‘calling’ . My message is about :: ✅Making Peace with Food ✅Reconnecting with Your Body ✅Mastering Your Rituals ✅Raising Consciousness Through Movement . I’m not saying I’m all out veggie or vegan. This may come in the future. Who knows . When I had terrible gut problems, being a veggie may NOT have served me. . But now things are different. I would rather be open to change. Open to shifting my beliefs. Then be stuck in my ways, resistance to change and closed off from RESEARCH . Hugs Bryony

Why do you say slimmer Dad?” . “Because it’s coming up to Summer and most girls want to get slimmer for summer” . You can’t control what people say . But you can 100% control your reaction to it . Most of the time, they probably don’t mean what you think they mean. . It’s the meaning YOU are placing on it . This would have triggered me to FUCKERY back in the day😬 . Right that’s it! 🙄 I have a confession to make 🙄 . When I was a PT, I preferred training men to women (most of the time) . Here is why :: Men’s focus tended to be on getting stronger, fitter, the training aspect . Women’s focus tended to be on burning calories and weight loss . **THIS IS NOT A WOMAN HATING POST** Man I hate that shit! . This is an observation from being a PT that I believe keeps women stuck on destructive patterns that at best lead them to poor results and resenting exercise . And at worse leads them to burn out . I have said this time and time again – exercise is not *the best* form for fat loss . The ironic thing is you will ‘burn more calories’ if you committed to doing a walk every day for a year . Than enrolling in a ‘6 week fat burning’ programme 2x per year . But it’s not the thing people want to hear . Why? . OH MY GOSH IT CAN’T BE AS SIMPLE AS WALKING SURLY?! Pfffffffffff . Yes Actually it can . It's also the LONG term game, again - most people aren't interested in that . A six week ‘bikini body programme’ is not a lifestyle change. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it, or it’s wrong to . But please for the love of G Do NOT kid yourself that it will change your life!* . *I don’t like talking in absolutes. For some people, maybe it will and you will be changed for life. Awesome . But for the VAST majority, who have been pinging from one diet to the other . It won’t do much to get to the root cause of the problem . If you’re struggling with the all or nothing . You may even begin to resent it the gym is used to soften the blow of the kitchen… . Re-evaluate your purpose for doing exercise . And you may be pleasantly surprised and your results . ENJOY your Saturday walk, yoga, gym session or whatever ya doing - which may include nothing! . 💋 Bryony x

But here is why I say this :: When I used to weigh macros TO THE GRAM . When I used to count calories TO THE NUMBER . When I used to do DANGEROUS DIETS . I had lost all common sense and trust in myself. It was as though I had no COMMON SENSE what a ‘healthy portion’ was . I no longer TRUSTED myself to make a meal without weighing all the ingredients . I no longer had the common sense that doing protein shake diets and fat burners – were NOT GOOD FOR MY HEALTH . I had to have the exact macros/calories/points mapped out for every meal . Why? . Because I had lost all common sense and trust in myself! . Am I against counting calories, macros and the like? . No . If it works for you – awesome, crack on. I think they serve a great purpose for AWARENESS . But . As soon as the Awareness is there, we get to LEARN how to absorb this knowledge so we can look at a plate, food choices and know what portion sizes are good for us . But for me? . That’s where it ends. I do not want to be enslaved to a system my whole life – where I feel trapped and obsessive. . I want FREEDOM . I want eating to be as easy as breathing . I don’t want to waste a minute tracking numbers when I have a life to live . And if you don’t too? . Ask yourself – . Do I trust myself? Or could I RElearn to trust myself? . Do I listen to my body? Or could I RElearn how to listen to my body so I know what I want and how much? . Who is a fan of calories & macros and would happily do them for like, ever? :) . And who struggles with obsessiveness around them? Bryony x

😍MAKE SWEET LOVE TO YOUR FOAM ROLLER EVERY MORNING😍 . And he will reward you with Flexibility of a gymnast Strength of an ox And a squat of an Olympic lifter . After having my quads in contraction for almost 5 MONTHS from my injury . You could have blow on my quads and it would have hurt 💨😫 . I cannot describe the tightness I had . But I have persisted. And persisted. And persisted. Through that pain. And now look at me lol! . IF YOU FOAM ROLL you know when you are able to place all your body weight on a specific muscle group and ride that baby out - it's a MILESTONE . 👌 . The 3 most sore areas on the LEGS that are easily accessible on a roller tend to be :: IT bands, TFL & Quads . I’m currently doing this on my foam roller. And it hasn’t all been tears of joy . You don’t have to make yourself cry, it shouldn’t be that bad . Keep persisting with it and you will get there . Bryony x

One thing that can get TOTALLY overlooked - and even shadowed by the emotional aspect is... . Restrictive diets can lead to binges! Especially if you are going to extremes. . Hunnie, there is another way. You can find what you’re looking for. But you won’t find it in a diet, no matter how low carb ya go 😘
