WHY I LOVE THE WORLD CUP. I just enjoy how the world comes together and enjoy as a race, human race, putting aside most of our differences. Even most families just enjoy watching and following the games together. And During world cup many of us become Football analysts including me. 😄🤣🤣 . . . HOW ACCURATE IS MY ANALYSIS of Portugal's strategy in the last game with Spain. 1. Get the ball 2. Pass it to Ronaldo 3. Did he score or not. 4. If yes then move back to #1 5. If no then move back to #1 6. If foul play and there is a penalty or a free kick. By this time you know what to do. #Simple lol. By the way, WHICH TEAM ARE YOU SUPPORTING?
THE FIGHT AGAINST THE I’MPOSSIBLE SYNDROME in my Steve Jobs gear. [How Google got me to join the fight against low self-esteem #globally] One thing I picked up in life is this; whenever someone tells you, “Its impossible,” they are usually repeating the voices of their own false prophets to you. Little do they know that you silenced the false prophet in you and you chose to see great possibilities. There are so many influential factors in our lives; people, environments, circumstances. But the most influential factor in your life is YOU. You are the prophet of your own life. I used to think some things were meant for some special people, not knowing I was #theSpecialONE. Hey, I am God's child, how can anything be too good for me. Say this to yourself, #IAmRemarkable and I was meant to do this. #LetsDOthis
THE FIGHT AGAINST THE FALSE PROPHET SYNDROME [How Google got me to join the fight against low self-esteem.] The #IAmRemarkable campaign was developed by Google and it strives to empower people to speak openly about their accomplishments, thus breaking modesty norms and glass ceilings. Most of our traditions make it easier to admit our shortfalls but not what makes us awesome or what we are good at, we usually don’t celebrate or promote ourselves openly, and hence we don’t take time to appreciate those challenges and mountains we have come to conquer. For some of us here have dominated our false prophets/ people’s expectations/ our addictions/ our backgrounds/ that family curse/ the Fear of doing something. THE #IAmRemarkable EXERCISE Find a piece of paper and write down your #IAmRemarkable statements. After that, say it out loud and if you can share with some people. Observe how it makes you feel., it might be uncomfortable at first, to have you open up and share the challenges you had. But choose to be proud that you conquered them. It is highly motivating when we learn to even celebrate the small wins. Take time to even look into your past, there are moments that your courageous actions defined who you are today, acknowledge those steps and put them down. Give this a try. PERSONAL REASONS 1. #IAmRemarkable because _______________. 2. #IAmRemarkable because _______________. 3. #IAmRemarkable because _______________. PROFESSIONAL REASONS 1. #IAmRemarkable because _______________. 2. #IAmRemarkable because _______________. 3. #IAmRemarkable because _______________. Have you ever heard a boxer talk about himself/ herself before going for a fight? Talk about yourself like a boxer, you are also going for a fight, the fight against the false prophet inside of you. You don’t have to brag, just lay down the facts. All the best. MY FIRST MEETING WITH THE FALSE PROPHET [Today’s Lesson: How I easily keep daily motivation.] I believe some of you know this false prophet, he is actually my age-mate, he grew up in the same neighbourhood as I did, and we went to the same schools and we went through similar experiences. I was living with him and every time something happens in my life, he usually shows up to give a share of his thoughts. Can you imagine, he even uses my name and I used to see him every day in the mirror? I grew up with low self-esteem for so many reasons and too afraid to fail and even afraid to stand out or talk in public because of stammering. I was not an A- student even in college, and I kept telling myself that I wasn’t good enough. My life changed the day I realized the biggest enemy fighting my path to success was not my terrible life experiences or the economy of my country/ my peers/ my family/ companies that rejected me/ my career choice. Many of us inflict so much suffering upon ourselves through negative thoughts and negative self-talk. Some even feel like they deserve bad things to happen to them. If you trust God has good plans for you, then don’t let that false prophet in you become the stumbling block to your life. Fighting this false prophet does not mean denying facts, and of course, it took some time for me but it was worth it. Today, I cannot be discouraged/ demotivated by anyone to give up on my dreams because I have control of the one that makes the final decisions. NEGATIVE SELF-TALK CAN TAKE MANY FORMS: “Things just always go wrong for me; I am so unlucky.” “…I could never do that,” “…There is no use,” “…I can’t do it” “…I am not good enough” “…I am not that smart to learn a new language/skill/job” These statements can be in our minds and sometimes we even casually include them in our daily greetings, we sometimes think we are being humble when we are actually reducing ourselves from greatness. EXERCISE: SAY TO YOURSELF, “I WAS MEANT TO DO THIS.” You are the prophet of your own life, so choose your words wisely. Get yourself in front of and say "I WAS MEANT TO DO THIS."
MENTORSHIP SESSIONS One of my mentors is Gabriel who I got to meet in London this year, he is a very cool Impact manager working on the improving lives of many in the Favelas in Brazil. Maestros Leadership Team is working on developing a mentorship portal where you can be matched and mentored by people from your country and others across the world. For research purposes. Which specific areas would you benefit from this kind of mentorship program.
MY FIRST MEETING WITH NAS, COMMON & CHANCE THE RAPPER [Lesson: How to build a winning brand in the entertainment industry] The Obama’s introduced me to these music icons and this is the story of how I came to appreciate the value chain in the entertainment industry and the value behind this statement, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.” Is it just me, or you also grew up wondering how some music artists, football players, movie actors, stand up comedians, authors stand out and grow themselves beyond the field of work? About 2 decades ago, with not much innovation in the music distribution industry, we still had access to original tapes of Nas in our African countries, and I was telling Common how my girlfriend loves his soundtrack with John Legend in Selma and how I love his performance in John Wick 2 with Keanu Reeves… by the way, how do you think Common got into the movie industry? It's not just about having talent. Talking about Common, have you observed that - "As common as a name might be, still NOT ALL ARE COMMON.” #Wordplay, Many might carry the same name but they are not all the same. Let's give this a try, I will mention a common name but you will probably recognize the icon, Leo, Kanu, Okocha, Brad, Meghan, Enrique, Ashton, Bruno, Ronaldo, Jesus. TODAY’S LESSON - “NO SELF-MADE GLOBAL ICON” Many might have your first or surname but you are not common. You are unique and you can work on developing your uniqueness even further by building a brand. Many might be doing a similar business as yours, but It is the brand that each one builds that distinguishes the distinguished. Think about a globally renowned artist/ athlete, know this today, whenever you see, start appreciating the work of a large team behind him/ her. There is no self-made global icon. TO ARTISTS – It is nice that you work hard to develop yourself in your industry, but alone you can only do so much, and together with great minds, you can do so much more. IS IT BETTER TO HAVE ONE SLICE OF BREAD ALL TO YOURSELF OR SHARE A LOAF WITH 3 MORE PEOPLE? TO MANAGERS/ PROMOTERS - Here is an opportunity; in Africa, we have not even scratched the surface.
