Keep an eye on your local account and @bookfairies_usa to see where books are dropped. And be sure to let us know if you find one by tagging us and by using • Happy searching 💚 Happy reading 💚 About the book - In a city that runs on industrialized magic, a secret war will be fought to overwrite reality itself--the first in a dazzling new series from City of Stairs author Robert Jackson Bennett. Sancia Grado is a thief, and a damn good one. And her latest target, a heavily guarded warehouse on Tevanne’s docks, is nothing her unique abilities can’t handle. But unbeknownst to her, Sancia’s been sent to steal an artifact of unimaginable power, an object that could revolutionize the magical technology known as scriving. The Merchant Houses who control this magic--the art of using coded commands to imbue everyday objects with sentience--have already used it to transform Tevanne into a vast, remorseless capitalist machine. But if they can unlock the artifact’s secrets, they will rewrite the world itself to suit their aims. Now someone in those Houses wants Sancia dead, and the artifact for themselves. And in the city of Tevanne, there’s nobody with the power to stop them. To have a chance at surviving—and at stopping the deadly transformation that’s under way—Sancia will have to marshal unlikely allies, learn to harness the artifact’s power for herself, and undergo her own transformation, one that will turn her into something she could never have imagined.

What a beautiful sight. A big pile of book fairy goody orders all stuffed in reused jiffies and envelopes 💚 Did you know that you cannot recycle jiffy bags? 😯 But! There is no reason not to reUSE packaging! When we run out of packets to reuse we have fully recyclable packaging. I mean yes, we do end up using a fair bit of tape but even that is biodegradable 🌿 Trying to make as little damage as possible being book fairies 😁 It is sometimes unavoidable to use plastic or accept things packaged in plastic. We would love some more ideas for being environmentally friendly! What could you change to make your life more green? ♻️

A Cornish book fairy got to spread some extra magic today! Some copies of ‘Legend of the lost’ by Ian P Buckingham have been placed at destinations mentioned in the book for finders, though you’ll have to be quick before the mermaids, fairies, seawytches, or pirates get there first ☠ The third copy was dropped in Coverack Harbour, ready to be snatched up by a mermaid! (Hopefully they’ll know not to get the pages wet!). About the book: The Legend of the Lost is the first in the magical adventure series about the Savage family and their struggle to re-connect after being torn apart under mysteriously tragic circumstances. The tale begins with two sisters, Holly and Lucy, on a tranquil family holiday at Mermaid Cottage nestled in an idyllic Cornish fishing village. But the chance discovery of a magical Moonstone leads to encounters with enchanted friends and mortal enemies and they soon discover that their past and indeed their very family is not what they had come to believe. The family members and their friends suddenly find themselves drawn on a challenging heroic journey that takes them from the coast through the mighty Ashridge Forest and concludes with an epic battle at the former castle of the Black Prince. During their adventure, the children uncover unique powers, qualities, alter egos and magical artifacts that not only help them solve the mystery of their family's past but transport them into a world where fairy-folk, humans, changelings and other enchanted creatures overlap. Yet with each new discovery comes a fresh challenge and they soon find themselves at the center of a greater war with dark forces. This threatens to throw the magical world into a terrible conflict with the natural kingdom and humans that will shape their individual destinies and decide the future of their unique family. . . @connectwithlotl

Wow! London is in for a treat this week as these books are released into the wild! See the synopsis' below and comment which you'd like to read 💚 About Wonder: August Pullman was born with a facial deformity that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can't get past Auggie's extraordinary face. WONDER, now a  New York Times bestseller and included on the Texas Bluebonnet Award master list, begins from Auggie's point of view, but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These perspectives converge in a portrait of one community's struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance. About The Handmaid's Tale: The Handmaid’s Tale is a novel of such power that the reader will be unable to forget its images and its forecast. Set in the near future, it describes life in what was once the United States and is now called the Republic of Gilead, a monotheocracy that has reacted to social unrest and a sharply declining birthrate by reverting to, and going beyond, the repressive intolerance of the original Puritans. The regime takes the Book of Genesis absolutely at its word, with bizarre consequences for the women and men in its population. About All The Bright Places: When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.

The sun is out in New Zealand and so are the book fairies. 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction finalist 'The Moor's Account' by Laila Lalami is hanging out at one of the benches in Takapuna Beach Thanks for this copy Book Discussion Scheme! - - About the Book: In 1527, the conquistador Pánfilo de Narváez sailed from the port of Sanlúcar de Barrameda with a crew of six hundred men and nearly a hundred horses. His goal was to claim what is now the Gulf Coast of the United States for the Spanish crown and, in the process, become as wealthy and famous as Hernán Cortés. But from the moment the Narváez expedition landed in Florida, it faced peril—navigational errors, disease, starvation, as well as resistance from indigenous tribes. Within a year there were only four survivors: the expedition’s treasurer, Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca; a Spanish nobleman named Alonso del Castillo Maldonado; a young explorer named Andrés Dorantes de Carranza; and Dorantes’s Moroccan slave, Mustafa al-Zamori, whom the three Spaniards called Estebanico. These four survivors would go on to make a journey across America that would transform them from proud conquistadores to humble servants, from fearful outcasts to faith healers.

A book fairy was busy today and left a copy of The Girls for someone to find! Here is a short note from the fairy: "As soon as I started reading The Girls I knew it was good enough for a book drop. A dark, gripping and at times gruesome book, it carries with it the echoes of Charles Manson. I read the final chapters last night and made my drop by Kingsbridge estuary this afternoon." Did you find it? About the book: Northern California, during the violent end of the 1960s. At the start of summer, a lonely and thoughtful teenager, Evie Boyd, sees a group of girls in the park, and is immediately caught by their freedom, their careless dress, their dangerous aura of abandon. Soon, Evie is in thrall to Suzanne, a mesmerizing older girl, and is drawn into the circle of a soon-to-be infamous cult and the man who is its charismatic leader. Hidden in the hills, their sprawling ranch is eerie and run down, but to Evie, it is exotic, thrilling, charged—a place where she feels desperate to be accepted. As she spends more time away from her mother and the rhythms of her daily life, and as her obsession with Suzanne intensifies, Evie does not realize she is coming closer and closer to unthinkable violence, and to that moment in a girl’s life when everything can go horribly wrong.

The Book Fairies are excited to be celebrating books that inspire us! Do you know a book that breaks boundaries, that sees the good in unlikely situations, where people surprise you? We invite you to spend the weekend of 25-26th August hiding books, fiction or non-fiction, that inspire you. This could mean a story from someone who went through unimaginable hardship and came through to do something incredible (Malala springs to mind) or it could be a story of triumph over evil (for example Angela's Ashes). It could also be a book that could help those through a real life situation - for example When I Hit You, by Meena Kandasamy. As part of this campaign we have an amazing opportunity to get the author of Would You Love Me involved - a book which encourages children to look beyond any boundaries and be who they want to be. What book is your inspiration? Will you be joining us? 💚

Some inspiring reading during summer! Originals - How Non-Conformists Move the World by Adam Grant was left in Rotterdam 💚 About the book: In Originals the author addresses the challenge of improving the world from the perspective of becoming original: choosing to champion novel ideas and values that go against the grain, battle conformity, and buck outdated traditions. How can we originate new ideas, policies, and practices without risking it all? Using surprising studies and stories spanning business, politics, sports, and entertainment, Grant explores how to recognize a good idea, speak up without getting silenced, build a coalition of allies, choose the right time to act, and manage fear and doubt; how parents and teachers can nurture originality in children; and how leaders can build cultures that welcome dissent. Learn from an entrepreneur who pitches his start-ups by highlighting the reasons not to invest, a woman at Apple who challenged Steve Jobs from three levels below, an analyst who overturned the rule of secrecy at the CIA, a billionaire financial wizard who fires employees for failing to criticize him, and a TV executive who didn’t even work in comedy but saved Seinfeld from the cutting-room floor. The payoff is a set of groundbreaking insights about rejecting conformity and improving the status quo. 💚📚💚📚💚📚💚📚💚📚💚📚💚📚💚📚💚

Book Fairies up and down the land are celebrating the UK publication of a brilliant book ‘Bellevue Square’ by award winning author Michael Redhill. Happy publication day to Michael and happy hunting to the rest of you! About the book: A darkly comic literary thriller about a woman who fears for her sanity--and then her life--when she learns that her doppelganger has appeared in a local park. Jean Mason has a doppelganger. She's never seen her, but others swear they have. Apparently, her identical twin hangs out in Kensington Market, where she sometimes buys churros and drags an empty shopping cart down the streets, like she's looking for something to put in it. Jean's a grown woman with a husband and two kids, as well as a thriving bookstore in downtown Toronto, and she doesn't rattle easily--not like she used to. But after two customers insist they've seen her double, Jean decides to investigate. She begins at the crossroads of Kensington Market: a city park called Bellevue Square. Although she sees no one who looks like her, it only takes a few visits to the park for her to become obsessed with the possibility of encountering her twin in the flesh. With the aid of a small army of locals who hang around in the park, she expands her surveillance, making it known she'll pay for information or sightings. A peculiar collection of drug addicts, scam artists, philanthropists, philosophers and vagrants--the regulars of Bellevue Square--are eager to contribute to Jean's investigation. But when some of them start disappearing, she fears her alleged double has a sinister agenda. Unless Jean stops her, she and everyone she cares about will face a fate much stranger than death.
