#happymothersday. It goes without saying, every friend, colleague or aquaintance that has ever met my mom, becomes over the moon in love with her. They adopt her as their mom. That is why she's affectionately known as "Momma Moore." . . Mom, you're extremely gracious, considerate and always make everyone feel special. . Love you Momma Moore.
This week has been so profound and impactful. Food for my soul, y'all (yes, I'm from the south). From Memphis to DC to Atlanta and this is only the beginning. From seeing childhood friends step into new chapters of their lives and become wives to going back to my highschool and sharing my life with the seniors at B.E. Mays HS. I am overwhelmed with emotion. (for those that know me, know I'm an emotional sap). . . What have I learned? . 1. Love and partnership is key. Maisha and Kammy, I'm so glad I got to witness your nuptials. You believed in love and kept yourself open and ready to receive it. I'm inspired by you. May this next chapter in your lives be better than the ones before. . And as the great prophet Khalil Gibram says on marriage: . "You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore... But let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.. Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.. Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow." 2. I am so excited for this years graduating seniors. speaking to you this week, served as a big reflection on my own life. I remember being in HS not knowing what direction I wanted my life to go in. So many options, but afraid to make a choice. I've learned whatever path you take, your destiny will always lead you to your propose IFF you stay open and listen to it. everything that happens along the way, will grow you towards that goal. . 3. I have some of the greatest friends EVER! y'all have been rockin with my crazy ass for so long. From @toastedink whose known me since I was a toddler to my Mays High Do or Die crew baby!! #Turnup
Again congrats to the class of 2018 B. E. Mays High School. It was an honor and a privilege to meet and speak to you all tonight. I can't wait to see what these next few years will be for you. . . Remember: . . "Strive to do so well, that no man living, no man dead, and no man yet to be born could do it better." Dr. Benjamin E. Mays. . . You have "a legacy to keep an image to uphold." . . Go.Do.Be. - Principal Ron Brown
Well look what I found. Remembering when I first started in the business. Left the corporate world in Atlanta and moved to New York to pursue this crazy #dream of being an actress. Look where it's brought me today. #grateful I know pursuing dreams can be scary, but if it doesn't scare you even just a little, what's the point of even doing it at all? The choices we make today, shape our futures for tomorrow. But at the end of the day, they're just choices. Even if the outcome isn't what you want it to be, that's ok. Just make another choice. What's up #atl. So excited to meet and celebrate with B. E. Mays highschool seniors tomorrow at Decision Day 2018. #yepihadarelaxerbackthen

"If you would have asked me when I moved to New York to pursue acting, what my journey would bring me, I would have said something about discovering my technique as an actor or honing my skill as a performer. Never, ever would I have thought this journey would bring me to confronting my body, how I felt about it and how I have come to learn to love and accept it each and every day."
