Life begins at the end of your comfort zone... & sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage 🤸‍♀️ * So proud of my brave & beautiful little girl, yesterday we spent the day in Jasper & as we were driving by horseshoe lake I asked if she wanted to go cliff jumping, she said yes, so we quickly turned in. When I showed her where to jump (& where its safe to jump from) I didn't think she was going to, but she sure proved me wrong. Happy 11th birthday my girl, you are so AMAZING ❤️

This was the first ray of sunshine we had seen since landing in Japan. We had been in Sounkyo Gorge for two days waiting and hoping to be able to climb up into the great Daisetuzan National Park. This was the night before we climbed and although it has been absolutely amazing to see see torrential rain rushing through every inch of this gorge; I was so delighted to see sunshine that gave me hope for potentially getting up the mountain in the morning. ☀️ #womenwhoexplore

In Seattle’s Chinatown for dumplings & late night snacks. Here for the National Indoor Tennis Championships at the historic Seattle Tennis Club. My new partner Kim Dean rocked the court with laser like forehand’s as we won out first round match 6-0, 6-1. #womenwhoexplore

Alaska. 🏔💙 Alaska! After years of dreaming about this place, I am finally here. WE are finally here, Joey and I, and today we climbed our first mountain together. Flattop Mountain, just outside of Anchorage. What’s funny is that we haven’t even SEEN mountains yet. Not really. It rained all day yesterday and all day today, and all we’ve been afforded are glimpses of ghostly outlines through the fog. The promise of them is enough to make my heart swell with such joy I swear it will burst. We knew the visibility wouldn’t be great, but we put on our boots and rain jackets and rain pants, strapped on our bear bells, and off we went, to summit a mountaintop. It was like another world: lush and rocky and deserted and wrapped in fog. When we finally stumbled to the top, exhausted after climbing hand over hand through a boulder field, it felt as if we were the only two people on the planet. Flattop Mountain is known for her beautiful views, but as I peered off the edge just beyond the flagpole, all I saw was that ghostly fog, vast and indifferent and all-encompassing. There was no one else. No one. Only Joey and I, at the top of a mountain, at the edge of the world.
