Ever wondered why you can never get those pesky calories to zero out on MyFitnessPal, even if you've hit your macros SPOT ON? In short, it's because food companies sometimes aren't so honest on their nutritional labels ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ . . 1. Per FDA guidelines, food companies are allowed to round the amounts shown on their nutrition labels. . . 2. Depending on the way the company is marketing the product, they may choose to take advantage of the concept of "net carbs". "Net carbs" are the carbs left when carbohydrates from fiber and sugar alcohols are backed off. However, there is inconclusive evidence on the validity of net carbs and their metabolic effect on our bodies (but that's a topic for another time ๐Ÿ˜‰). . . Below are two different types of Thomas brand English muffins - Light Multigrain vs. Honey Wheat. At first glance (from a caloric standpoint), the Light Multigrain muffin looks like a better option - but what most people DON'T notice is that the macros are almost identical, yet there's a 30 calorie difference between the two: . . Light Multigrain - 100 calories, 1F, 26C, 5P Honey Wheat - 130 calories, 0.5F, 26C, 5P . . When you do the macro math, the Light Multigrain muffin comes out to 135 calories, and the Honey Wheat muffin comes out to 129 calories ๐Ÿ“ . . [As a quick recap, each gram of protein and carbs is 4 calories, and a gram of fat is 9 calories ๐Ÿค“] . . When you enter the Light Multigrain muffin into MyFitnessPal, it's going to register the calories at 100, rather than the 135 calories that are technically factored into your caloric intake (via your macros). When your macros are calculated, your total daily caloric needs are broken down into macronutrient values based on the caloric values of each macro. Thus, if every other food you eat that day is spot on with the calorie and macro values, you're going to end up looking like you have 35 calories left, when you actually have none. . . So long story short - focus on hitting your macro numbers, and ignore the amount MyFitnessPal says you're over or under on calories ๐Ÿ‘ . . The more you know ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ . . Did this surprise you? Last weekend spent in Edinburgh this weekend before the move later this week ๐Ÿ”‘ and honestly had such a fun weekend ๐Ÿค— The @edfringe is still in full swing so we went to see @thejasonbyrne on Saturday night who was bloody brilliant and back in again on Sunday to soak up some more of the atmosphere. We headed to @assemblyfest yesterday and enjoyed some deeelish food from @tingthaicaravan taking me back to traveling times ๐Ÿ˜ and we may or may not have bought some goodies from @mimisbakehouse too ๐ŸŒš ๐Ÿคค Anyone not managed to make the festival yet, I would definitely recommend making the time to go before it finishes soon!

Iโ€™m back b*****s ๐Ÿ˜˜ โœ”๏ธ After 10weeks of im back for ๐Ÿ˜ We go on holiday next week so my plan is to have a break while on holiday then start bbg again when im back but use it in the meantime for a workout. I am going to be doing a workout a day (joint depending) so Iโ€™ll be doing 2weeks of workouts in 1 and will finish it in 6weeks instead of 12 (yeah weโ€™ll see ๐Ÿ˜‚) withkayla
