❗️A bump in the road❗️ - 230kg, 255kg went well, made the wrong jump to 272kg for last single before an attempt at 282kg. (272 not shown). - Could give 100 excuses, or I could just do it properly next time. Finished this session with some chins, overhead press and glute/ham raises. - Back to some simple training for a while, the road to 300 isn't over, will just be longer (and more boring) than expected. - andconditioning

Using a blood flow restriction spanish squat today with one of our athletes who plays basketball over seas. . Multiple left knee surgeries have left this athlete with less knee extension and less leg strength. . We’re working with her in the off season to help get back to 100% before the next season. . If you’ve had a surgery or have long term strength loss, blood flow restriction work is an option you should check out.

Had my Aerobic and Strength Assessment done with Simon @bikefitwales last week and the results are in ... I’m unfit and weak 😂 shock horror! . In fairness, for someone who has barely touched a weight in the gym for about 4 years I was pretty happy with my strength. Worked up to 5 rep max lifts and then a set to failure @50% to determine left/right bias. Turns out my left leg is substantially stronger than my right, despite it being my non-dominant side! . Leg Press - 280kg Hamstring curl - 77kg Overhead BB press - 44kg Close grip pull down - 78kg . Aerobically it was pretty interesting and backed up what I always thought about being more of a fast twitch fibre guy. Following a 3 minute ramp max power test on the watt bike, averaging 333 (270/317/409), and then blood tests during a 20 minute spin. . Turns out I’m a lactate producing beast and cross over the anaerobic threshold at just 130bpm. One of the lowest he’s ever seen; impacted by my very low resting heart rate of 42. However I have a high lactate tolerance ... the ability to suffer 😂 . Looking forward to starting some client coaching with Simon over the next few months and seeing what improvements I can make! . . . . #strengthandconditioning
