After spending the previous two days at altitude and the night before in freezing temperatures, I headed to one of the hottest and driest places on earth, Death Valley National Park. Death Valley holds the record for the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere, Badwater Basin, at a nitrogen narcosis inducing (just kidding, it’s a diving joke) 282 feet below sea level! It was pretty strange to think that within a few days period I had made a dive to 100 feet, went to at least 10,000 feet in elevation, then went down to 282 feet below sea level! The temperature change was also pretty staggering, I think it ended up being about an 80 degree change in temperature from the night before. Here’s a fun factoid that surprised me, Death Valley wasn’t a national park until 1994! This photo was taken at the Mesquite Sand Dunes at sunset. These dunes are a whopping 100 feet high, but all joking aside, they are quite impressive and seem to rise out of nowhere. The dunes have also appeared in movies such as Star Wars. _______________________________________________________ nofilter
