"Regression is a natural part of the horse's learning curve and is to be expected. If you know ahead of time that it will happen, then it should be no surprise when it does. You may be in the middle of a lesson, when all of a sudden, your horse will not perform a simple request that you have asked for successfully many times before. At such moments, instead of remaining 'stuck' on the current lesson, take a step back.... This learning regression is not a first-week phenomenon--it happens at all stages." Moving a horse forward on the ground will help get them thinking forward for under saddle. Your horse needs forward motion to do so much in training. Give your pony a go button! It will help you in so many places! Collection, spins, jumping, lead changes all need forward motion working well. Forward motion is the key to engagement!

This morning as I was looking over the feed label for the mineral tub that I feed my horses a thought occurred to me... We as horse owners... really animal owners/breeders pay carful consideration to what we feed our animals and what gets put into their bodies. We make sure they get the adequate protein, minerals, grains, and water to survive and make them perform to their best. We comb through numerous feed labels, brands, ask the experts for advice ... yet when it comes to our own nutrition it seems to get shoved aside. We go for what’s convenient and easy. I am guilty of the same thing at times but we need to provide ourselves with the same great nutrition as we do them otherwise we won’t be able to provide them with our care. The same with fitness. We expect our horses to be in top shape, to sprint after a calf, in between barrels, turn sharp on a dime, and to have that endurance and strength to do so... yet again we don’t expect the same for ourselves. We should be just as in shape as they are so we can keep up with them and be a better partner! Last night when I was working Jigs on barrels last night ... I was amazed at how I was able to stay in my seat better and stay centered better and keep up with him. I noticed the same when we were in the pasture cutting out bulls, It was way easier for me and him to stay with him while he was doing his thing. All thanks to my change of nutrition and fitness. If you are curious just in the slightest... or if I are just a little nervous about starting something new or having the time .. just shoot me a message and we can chat. I would love to help!!! #horsemanship

Gave a go at jumping two barrels in a row at liberty with Lola and this was the end result. Love how she hunts the jump with such ease and confidence ❤️ manship
