🌿 Homemade face serum 🌿 It’s rainy here so I’m making stuff with my oils! Mixed 5 drops each of Frankincense, Patchouli, Geranium, Lavender, and Ylang Ylang with Jojoba Oil and topped with a pump of Fractioned Coconut Oil (so it doesn’t solidify). I’ve spent $$$ on serums (I’m sure we all have at some point) and this mix lasts foreverrr. I reused a bottle from a past serum of mine and got the Jojoba and Coconut Oils on @amazon. But I get my essential oils from @younglivingeo because they’re pure, natural, and not diluted like some store bought oils. And when you’re putting serums on your skin, you’re going to want the real stuff 🌿 Ps: did I mention this smells ah-maz-ing??? . . . . . . #healthfirst

My Favs 💓 How beautiful is this picture 😍 What an amazing weekend I had with these two. We are already discussing our next Campervan Adventure 🙌 I've had no phone signal all weekend, I only had wifi for 24 hours while on the campsite, I didn't straighten my hair, I only wore make up once, and we didn't have a tv to watch. It's so nice just to get away from it all, to get away from modern day life, to be outside and to be active, spending the day walking, exploring, and having fun on the beach in the sun. We are all sunkissed, happy, de-stressed and tired 😊 I promise tomorrow the fitness and food post will resume 🙈 . . . #healthfirst

Another of working out. Today was another cardio + lifting day . Tomorrow I'll start focusing on certain parts of the body for each day. I'm excited to get to the 14th day mark because I'm rewarding myself with a me day. I think its important to give yourself that pat on the back whenever you meet a goal or achievement, it gives you the motivation and determination to keep going. For me personally, I dont think it's best for that reward to be food. I am a known binge eater and the mentality that comes along with giving myself "bad" food because I ate "good" food for an entire week just doesn't sit well with me. and are the best tools on this journey, restriction is a diet and I'm not on any diet but a With all that said, I'm pumped and ready to tackle this week, are you ready for ? 💪 • • • • • • #healthfirst

I wanna talk about protein bars! - Even though they're known as protein bars, 99% of protein bars are actually "carb bars", most times with substantially higher grams of carbohydrate than protein. Some of the "paleo" branded bars will also have more grams of fat than protein as well. While I don't have any negative connotations with either carbs or fats, I do think it's bullshit that the branding has PROTEIN printed in big, bold letters all over the front when the protein content is less than the carbohydrate and fat content. - A majority of people already underconsume protein, yet eat more than enough carbs and fats. Thinking that protein bars are a great option to get more protein in, but when they contain more carbs and fats than protein, you're not really improving your ratio of macronutrient distribution, you're actually making it worse. - This isn't a blanketed statement to avoid protein bars, depending on proximity to your training session, and training modality, you may very well want more carbs than protein. If you're on the go and looking for a quick protein option, you're much better off grabbing some unflavored greek yogurt, quality beef jerky, or smoked deli meat. Look past the marketing and read the nutrition labels on the back to see if what you're buying actually contains what you're looking for. 🧠💣
