Photo by @BrianSkerry. For all of the Eagles fans out there, a Steller’s Sea Eagle flies over pack ice in Japan’s Sea of Okhotsk. This species migrates from the Kamchatka Peninsula in winter to feed on the abundant herring population that gathers beneath the sea ice. These gorgeous birds are categorized as vulnerable by the IUCN but, in Japan, they are protected as a ‘National Treasure.’ Through conservation efforts like this, we can reverse our impact on the environment, and protect our world for future generations.
