Good morning everyone! I got this tattoo after I lost my first 100 lbs... as you can see it's a Phoenix with a treble clef rising from the ashes... resembling my love for music and me rising above the ashes... morphing into a new life! I've now lost over 300 lbs... think I have an idea for another tattoo and this journey! We can all RISE above anything if we believe we can!! #fatlossjourney

💥💥💥💥SMART GOALS💥💥💥💥 On your weight loss journey, setting goals is key! It’s sensible to think in terms of both short term and long term But most importantly, you need to have SMART goals This principle is so useful, it can be used to reach those results you were so dearly after In terms of weight loss, the SMART principle can be used as follows.... Specific: you must keep your intentions specific to weight loss. I understand that nutrition, exercise and health are extremely complex and multi-faceted, however when it comes to weight loss it’s all about energy balance. Too much food goes in = weight gain, not enough food goes in = weight loss Measurable: every goal should be mathematical (e.g. lose 1kg each week, lose 8kg in 8 weeks). This method can be done by creating easily manageable micro goals or creating general macro goals for longevity Achievable: just because you have set measurable goals does not mean they are achievable! Do not try lose a stone in one week because you’ve got a holiday booked, it’s not a very good idea and you will eventually crash. Create manageable chunks that will last forever! Plan ahead! Realistic: By creating smaller more manageable chunks of weight loss will mean it will be more sustainable. Would you rather lose a stone in a few weeks for your holiday and put it all back on? Or would you rather lose 1kg a week for 8 weeks and learn to maintain the healthy weight you taught yourself to get? Time related: having a time constraint does not mean there is an end, it just allows you to reach an aim and reevaluate it when it is completed. (E.g. 8 week programme). By creating realistic time constraints will induce positive pressure, but don’t get disheartened if things don’t go the way you want them to, everybody has a few bumps in the road to a journey that lasts for the rest of you’re life! ⠀⠀

Arguably the most basic, yet effective bodyweight exercise. Requires ZERO equipment, can be performed anyw" at Portishead, North Somerset - 1805147707407118108

♣️ ♠️ Arguably the most basic, yet effective bodyweight exercise. Requires ZERO equipment, can be performed anywhere, help build strength, has a huge number of variations to increase difficulty or target different muscle groups & significantly they are quantifiable so you can always compare to your previous best ▪️ The only problem is, they are often performed incorrectly! Form is absolutely crucial on this exercise, poor form can result in you over-stressing your shoulder joints, primarily your rotator cuffs which is a typical injury point for poor push-up positioning ▫️ One of the main mistakes is that the elbows flare too wide. Imagine you are pushing somebody away. You wouldn’t raise your elbows up to your ears, equally they wouldn’t be pinned to your side. You naturally would push with your arms at a 45 degree angle ▪️ The same exact principles apply for a push up. This is where the greatest amount of force can be produced, activating your chest & preventing shoulder injuries! ▫️ Ensure your body stays tight, maintaining a straight line from head to toe. Squeeze your glutes together & bracing your abs. You don’t want your upper body rising before your legs or vice versa ▪️ Your chest should be the first thing that makes contact with the floor & this should be consistent for every rep. With your arms fully locking out at the top supporting your bodyweight (no half reps) & 90 degrees at the bottom ▫️ In terms of foot placement, it makes no real difference. The wider apart the more stable you will be. But it’s down to preference! ▪️ If you are unable to perform a push up, start by practising the technique against a wall, work up to completing reps on your knees as well as Band assisted push ups. ▫️ 1️⃣ Get into a plank position, hands slightly outside shoulder width at 45 degree angle. Arms fully locked out, glutes clenched & abs braced 2️⃣ Lower yourself down in a controlled manner, body remaining in a tight straight line. Eyes looking slightly in front of you not directly down. Until your arms are at a 90 degree angle. Chest should now be touching the floor! 3️⃣ Slight pause before exploding back up into the start position! Simple but effective 💪🏾

📸 _  by @healthydiet.ig . 💥💥6 REASONS YOU’RE TIRED ALL THE TIME!!!💥💥 For some of you reading this, probably not all of you, but for some. The way you feel right now is the most energized you’ll feel all year long. You’ve been sleeping a lot because of the holidays, no work stress, you’ve eating lots of foods during the holiday, all in all, your energy is restored to attack the year. - 😥Unfortunately for a lot of us (including me sometimes) life takes over during the year. A lot of work stuff going on, sometimes that takes away from the way we take care of our body and I want you to commit to your own body right now. Seriously. - 🔥Your body, and especially your energy is the currency of the age we’re living in right now. You don’t want to be starved for energy, smashing caffeine left right and center to get you going and keep you going, pulling all nighters in order to complete work projects. - All of that will happen and there will be moments in the year that you’ll end up in such situation. But it’s in times like those where the people who are actually committed to their fitness, their body and their energy come through. - 💪The people who actually are committed, like you and me do the stuff we need to do. We train, we sleep enough and we prioritize our bodies, energy levels and NEVER give up on our fitness goals. - 💪We don’t get caught up eating too little food, drinking too little water, not sleeping enough, using exercise as a coping mechanism for stress and ending up exercising too much, not having enough fun in life or not being active enough. - ❤️Much love.      journey

Sure, six-pack abs are nice. But abdominal strength and endurance means much more than sporting Adonis-like abs. Developing your midsection has positive benefits when it comes to daily function, sports performance and physical health. Your abs are part of your core, which includes your pelvic muscles, hips and the muscles that support the spine. Strong, able abs contribute to a healthy core, forming a powerful axis for your whole body. www.victoryplates.com journey

📸 _  by @dietguide.ig . 🍕 PIZZA VS. PIZZA 🍕 - 🙋🏻‍♂️First off, yes yes, I understand! Not everyone is going to eat an entire pizza! We can agree on that — though some of us, like myself, might do that from time to time… 😉 - ☝🏼 But for real, we’re talking about portion size in this post! And because pizza is literally everyone on Planet Earth’s favorite food (not really, I’m exaggerating) and because pizza is such a weekend food, I figured it would make sense to compare two pizza options for you! - 🙉 Can you believe that one Original Rising Crust DIGIORNO pizza contains 1800 calories?!??! It’s true!!! And on the other hand, the Thin and Crispy DIGIORNO contains just 740 calories (still a lot for most people in a calorie deficit) for the entire pie. - 😎 What does this mean? Does it mean you should go binge on entire 740 calorie pizza if you’ve had a few drinks, or if you’re dying for some food? Noooo that’s not what I’m saying! - 💁🏻‍♂️ What I am saying is this… - 🍕 Yes, there is a time and place for pizza, and when that time and place comes, think about what your health and fitness goals are and how different choices can dictate your success. Got it? Good! - 👉🏼 So, which choice makes more sense for your goals? I’m going to guess the one on the right (for most people)! But either way, enjoy it and have a great weekend! -     journey
