PARLIAMENT SUSPENDED AS BREXIT MINISTER REFUSES TO MAKE WHITE PAPER AVAILABLE BEFORE DEBATE! What is the new Brexit Minister, Dominic Rabb, so desperate to hide? Maybe this... "THE UK MAKING AN UPFRONT CHOICE TO COMMIT BY TREATY TO ON GOING HARMONISATION WITH EU RULES ON GOODS" ...This is the section of the brexit white paper that permanently commits the UK to being a 'rule taker' from the EU. #EUWithdrawalBill

Boris Johnson had met with David Cameron on Thursday, ahead of the Chequers 'show-down', where Cameron reportedly persuaded Johnson not to resign from the government (yeah, like that was going to happen. If May had a spine he'd have been sacked months ago 😠). Boris claimed that the two men agreed the prime ministers plans were “the worst of all worlds” and he told his fellow Etonian - the 'father of brexit' - he should finally take pride in having called the referendum. 24 hours later at Chequers, Boris agreed with May that her plan was excellent. 🤡 #EUWithdrawalBill

WORLD NEWS | Queen Elizabeth approves Brexit law to withdraw from EU Membership Details: Britain's Queen Elizabeth granted royal assent to Prime Minister Theresa May's flagship Brexit legislation today, ending months of debate over the legislation that will formally end the country's European Union (EU) membership. The EU Withdrawal Bill revokes the 1972 European Communities Act through which Britain became a member, and transfers decades of European law onto British statute books in a bid to avoid any legal disruption. #EUWithdrawalBill

Ian Blackford, leader of the SNP in the kicked up a storm in this week, criticising Theresa May’s approach to the #EUWithdrawalBill and the time spent debating devolved issues. He called for an immediate vote on holding a fresh debate to include Scottish voices. This was declined. Ignoring Speaker John Bercow’s repeated requests to sit down, he was ejected from the house, followed en masse by fellow SNP MPs. 🌩🌩🌩 Outside the Commons, surrounded by his MPs, he warned that “this is the beginning of something...they’re taking us on so they’re going to find we are taking them on. We’ll use every measure at our disposal.” Looks like this storm is set to continue...we’ve got our ☔️ ready ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Many people have asked to see the speech I gave on Wednesday during the EU Withdrawal Debate where I voted for Labour's Frontbench amendment, along with the Lord's Amendment, such is my determination to remain in the Customs Union and some form of Single Market. "Somehow, this whole debate has been hijacked by what I believe to be a minority in this House. It is claimed by some people that liberating this country from the European Union’s customs union and single market will lead to a fantastic brave new world in which we are free to strike new deals with China and the US and other markets. However, that claim is presented as a choice between one or the other. Clearly, it is not. The public really are being deceived. For example, all countries in Europe trade with China. The UK already does so. We are not handicapped by being part of the EU in that regard. Quite the opposite: we are strengthened and enabled by it. I should like to present a simple fact in the debate. The UK’s exports to China are one tenth those of Germany. The UK and Germany are both in the EU. The UK’s exports to China are worth $18 billion, while Germany’s are worth $180 billion. Is Germany handicapped in any way? No, it is not. Being a member of the EU does not work against any of us. UK plc needs to prioritise its largest customer, which is surely the EU customs union, and build its markets elsewhere. That is what the CBI says, and Paul Drechsler said this morning that UK manufacturing would be seriously threatened by a hard Brexit and switching to WTO rules. The public expect us in this place to act in their best interests and in the best interests of the economy, of jobs and of businesses. For that reason, we must stay in a customs union and some form of single market... To view the whole speech follow the link at: https://youtu.be/5EM1rdwTk-g #euwithdrawalbill
