“My kids are wild & out-of-control ....they’re acting SO BIPOLAR!!” - Notary guy. .🙈🙉🙊 (insert shock, awe, a loud wail, and utter disbelief. UGH. ) . Stigma still needs to be shattered & I need to speak up, no matter how awkward it might be! I failed this time around, but I promise to keep advocating so people know what bipolar really looks like... and acts like! Have you had any similar experiences? Did you speak up & out?. . P.S. I might just have to pop Mr. Notary a quick email to follow up on a few things. 😊
📕🤪🚒 Anxiety Tip: Are you headed out for a stroll but get stressed out on the street? Grabbing a book to thumb through JUST might help ... unless of course there’s a fire nearby! (trust me, by the end of the video it’ll make sense!). . The anxieties I sometimes face can seem silly to some... regardless, they are very real, and can throw a wrench into daily life. Yup, I’m admitting that even walking around town- zig-zagging, surrounded by strangers, thoughts swirling, limbs flailing- can seem like climbing Mount Everest. So, instead of my tiny phone, I took out a BIG book and hung onto it (for dear life 😜)..... I opened it every once in a while and it helped! I mean it REALLY helped. A LOT. A lot, a lot. Sometimes the oddest things can make a difference. Thought I’d pass this along just in case it helps someone else out there too! Have any tips to share? 💛
I love the following quote so much, I’m going to need to dream up 1,000,000 more ways to share it! I’m thinking this ‘loop’ sums it up quite nicely! Brace yourself for some powerful, assuring, hope-filled, peace-giving, inspiring words from the amazing @terristcloud ! . . “She could never go back and make some of the details pretty. All she could do was move forward and make the whole beautiful.” - Terri St. Cloud www.bonesigharts.com . It’s so easy to get hung up on our past mistakes and let them overshadow the bigger picture... the whole of our lives. I will always (always, ALWAYS) choose to keep moving forward on my bipolar journey and make the whole beautiful!
🌦🌤☀️🌈 In honour of World Suicide Prevention Day... . . If today finds you in a darker place, may this post offer even the smallest glimmer of hope or the faintest flicker of light at the end of the tunnel. Sunshine comes to all who feel rain. There are so many breathtakingly beautiful sunrises & sunsets to come. And there are a million more breathtakingly beautiful reasons to stay. XO. . If you or a loved one needs help, please call the suicide prevention lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or text CNQR to 741741.
Bipolar, Relationships & Self-Care. Setting boundaries, people-pleasing, mask-wearing, resentment, honesty, authenticity... you name it, I cover it all in this clip! . Sending out a huge thank you to @resilientlisa (an amazing fellow advocate!) for this topic idea!
Advocacy on Instagram. WHY? Just why? AM I a middle-aged woman baring her soul on social media for attention? Am I having a massive midlife crisis or am I just passionate about a cause? (Trust me, I’ve heard it all!) . . If you’re also stepping out as an advocate my pompoms are waving for you! No matter what others may think your true motives are... sharing your story is powerful and will help others in the most unexpected & inspiring ways! 🙌
Well.... summer’s over, classes have officially begun and stepping into the schoolyard was as awkward & anxiety-inducing as ever for me this morning! ( forget about my kid, it’s all about me! 😜) But... I finally forced myself to put my ‘cell phone security blanket’ back in my purse and I embraced the opportunity to make eye contact with others! It worked! I even exchanged a few hellos and met a brand new mom! I’m determined to push myself this year in all areas of my life... and that most definitely includes on school grounds! Anxious parents unite! Let’s all put our phones away ‘cause we got this! . P.S. Could this footage be any blurrier? I don’t think so! (Cringe). 😬🧐
⚖️🍃📰 My official weigh-in on my bipolar disorder: headline story or yesterday’s news? Bombshell admission or bonus feature?. . “Thankfully, my bipolar disorder is no longer a bombshell admission or headline story in my life. My initial feelings of brokenness and shame have faded, and I finally view my disorder through my friends’ eyes, as something I have, not something I am. It doesn’t define my relationships or me. I am more than my mental illness. So much more. My bipolar is an added ‘bonus feature’ to the already complex, dramatic, passionate, square-pegged person I am. ... The positive things in my life FAR outnumber the negatives; I need only remind myself which should hold the most weight. I’m making the most of my best parts and managing the worst.” . 📓-The Other Side of Me-memoir of a bipolar mind. written by ... me!
A long-winded post to replace Saturday morning cartoons... but hopefully some parts are just as entertaining!. I’m keeping it real and revealing that I absolutely have days that are a struggle! My anxiety can still pop up and threaten my ability to accomplish the simplest things! But I choose to always try my very best to fight through & push myself, as uncomfortable as it might be! (It can be soooo uncomfortable. Ugh.) Did I succeed this time around? Watch to find out! And also watch to see why carrying an oven mitt in my glove box might not be a bad idea! 🔥😜
A Backlog of Posts & A Call-Out for Content Ideas! . Stay tuned for clips that will cover it all... all out of order! It’s been a busy summer & I’m excited to hop back on here and continue sharing my bipolar journey! Have a question? Want me to share about something specific? Let me know in the comments and I’ll do my best to shed light & offer insight! Ask away!
